CALIFORNIA JUNIOR SCHOLARSHIP SOCIETIES

California Junior Scholarship Federation (CJSF) is a state organization that is the middle school version of the California Scholarship Federation (CSF). A CJSF chapter has been established on the LinderoCanyonMiddle School campus to foster high standards of scholarship and citizenship. CJSF is only open to 7th and 8th grade students.

CJSF membership is based on scholarship and is gained after qualifying grades are earned each semester. In order to become a member, the student must submit an application and qualify each semester. The student is responsible for taking the initiative to complete and submit the application for membership on the approved form during the application periods. Membership is neitherautomatic nor compulsory. Students who are members three of the four semesters in their 7th and 8th grade years will receive special recognition at 8th grade Culmination.

Eligibility is determined as follows:

  1. Members must qualify academically based on the previous semester grades (excluding PE, electives [other than foreign language & S.T.E.A.M], school service and repeated classes).
  1. Foreign Languageand S.T.E.A.M are theonly electivesthat qualify. However, students must pass all elective classes.

**Students enrolled in designated Honorsor Acceleratedclassesreceive one additional point for an A or B.

  1. Grade points must total at least twice the number of eligible classes. For example, if a student has 5 eligible classes, a minimum of 10 points is required; 4 eligible classes require a minimum of 8 points. Students must have at least 4 eligible classes to quality for CJSF.
  1. All semester grades must be “C” or better. Physical education classes, exploratory, electives (other than foreign language & S.T.E.A.M), school service and repeated classes do not count for CJSF points. However, the grades in these classes must be “C” or better.
  1. Good citizenship must be maintained as demonstrated by report card citizenship grades and continued acceptable behavior at CJSF activities. No N’s or U’s in citizenship on the quarter or semester report cards will be accepted. Additionally, CJSF students must maintain 97 or more behavior points throughout the year.
  1. Student must apply for membership each semester.
