Lincoln Stamp Show Warmly Welcomes Postage Stamp Enthusiasts of All Ages and Interests
Lincoln, Neb.—Jan. 19, 2017 — Collectors of postage stamps from the United States and around the world will find dealers and exhibits that match up with their interests at a public stamp show—LINPEX 2017. The show is set for Saturday, February 25, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday, February 26, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.Sponsored by the Lincoln Stamp Club,LINPEX will be held in the Omaha Room at Country Inn and Suites, 5353 N. 27th St., Lincoln. Parking and admission are free. The venue is barrier-free.
LINPEX will host eightstamp dealersand the U.S. Postal Service. Show visitors may browse and then buymint and used U.S. and worldwide stamps, topical stamps, and postal history items.On Saturday, the USPS Station will sell current U.S. stamps and use a special show cancel on any outgoing mail. The cancel is also available at Lincoln’s main post office for thirty days.
LINPEX also offers no-cost evaluations of collections that members of the public may bring for knowledgeable Club members to review. The young and young at heart alike are welcome to spend hours digging through thousands of loose domestic and foreign stamps at the Beginners’ Table, where each stamp costs children a penny, while adults pay a nickel.
Free handouts will introduce the American Philatelic Society andthe Lincoln Stamp Club.Postal exhibits will entertain and educate, showing how collectors’ topics cover a wide diversity of interests: grandkids’ first-time efforts to collect and display stamps; the Pegasus air-mail issues of Uruguay from 1935 to 1944; dollar-plus U.S. stamps on modern mail;old picture postcards from Lincoln, Nebraska; a father’s cover collection; Boy Scouts around the world; colorful, early stamps of Central and South America; and the first fifty years of Christmas seals.
The Club will release a special stamped and cancelled envelope that honors the one-hundred-fiftieth anniversary of Nebraska’s statehood. The envelope’s design honors the twenty-six individuals named to the Nebraska Hall of Fame. The cancellation features an outline of the state and its year of statehood. The customized postage stamp highlights Chimney Rock, a national historic site and an historically significant landmark on several transcontinental trails. An insert, written by Jim McKee, local historian, traces the journey of Nebraska from territory to state.
Individuals desiring to obtain copies of the Nebraska Sesquicentennial cover may buy them at the show for $3.00. Individuals may order covers by mail for the same price.Orders should include a stamped, self-addressed envelope and be mailed to Joel Johnson, 3240 Sheridan Ct., Lincoln, NE 68506-6142.
