  • Check site before and advise participants of any potential hazards to be aware of
  • Advise all participants of uneven surface

2 / Equipment /
  • Demonstrate correct use of any equipment used
  • Check all equipment is in a good state of repair

3 / Encountering livestock /
  • Avoid close contact with stock.
  • Find alternative access if stock are blocking way.

4 / Dangerous individuals /
  • Supervise participants while on site.
  • Leave site if individuals persist in being a problem.
  • Notify police if needs be.
  • Volunteers to have charged mobile whilst on site.

5 / Sharps /
  • Check site beforehand
  • Ensure sharps box is present to dispose of any finds.
  • Avoid using site if contamination is bad.

6 / Allergies, stings and bites /
  • Get participants to notify leader of any possible allergies etc
  • First Aider on site
  • Advise participants to seek medical attention if symptoms persist

7 / Falling in the pond/water /
  • AS slips trips falls above
  • No lone working when working alongside water
  • Use buoyancy aid to rescue if needed

8 / Waterborne pathogens
Soil Pathogens /
  • Advise participants of dangers before contact with water or soil; (Wash hands before eating and drinking)
  • Use hand wipes after contact
