Resort Benefits: Liftopia helps deliver incremental customers to mountain resorts for free through its online and mobile ski marketplace. Liftopia’s proprietary technology enables ski resorts to better manage inventory and pricing during high- and low-demand periods for everything from lift tickets, rentals, and lessons to other on-mountain activities, such as dining. On the back-end, Liftopia’s system provides resort management with advanced analytics to easily track performance over time and make more informed pricing and yield management decisions. Liftopia also offers resorts access to the Cloud Store by Liftopia, a performance-based e-commerce platform and revenue management tool, which helps resorts sell their Liftopia-optimized pricing plan through their existing websites and on mobile devices. The bottom line: Liftopia only makes money when a resort makes money.

The Idea: Ron Schneidermann and Evan Reece met while working at Hotwire, where Ron worked in business development and Evan worked in revenue maximization and pricing strategies for mountain destination hotels. They realized that there was an unmet need to help mountain resorts sell ancillary activities and products as part of the ski vacation. With the pair’s combined technology, revenue management and travel industry experience, Liftopia.com was founded in 2005.
