The meeting began by referencing a web-site that again focused on the fundamental purposes of a mission statement. We discussed what we should strive to be? What is our fundamental purpose?

A length discussion was held on Values:

Are we the best or just excellent?

Which do we value?

Do we want to be leaders or innovators? Is that a value?

Does Protex value innovation? The group split 50-50.

We do strive to be innovative.

Do we consider ourselves leaders?

The general consensus is yes,

we hold A&E luncheons,

Suppliers like FireTrace see us out.

We do not do enough to promote the performance of profit. The discussion about this should be internally focused.

Time was then spent reviewing what Brad received from the Hastings employees on strengths and weaknesses.

Strengths:

  1. Good products
  2. Wide array of products, services, solutions
  3. High standards expected of ourselves
  4. Professional looking staff and vehicles
  5. Do what it takes to fix customers problems
  6. Timely response to customers
  7. Provide good tools and support to staff
  8. Offices provide good technical support
  9. Protex tries to take care of employees in time of need/personal crisis
  10. Friendly people to deal with
  11. Strong company background

Weaknesses:

  1. Wage increases
  2. RPH bonus program is a joke.
  3. Prices are too high
  4. Protex should pay for license
  5. Not enoughtraining
  6. not enough help
  7. Communications between offices and techs
  8. Public Relations
  9. Customers need to know all of our services
  10. 10. Too much overhead
  11. Wages should be based on experience, education, Licenses
  12. Money spent not needed (like G.P.S.)

It was then discussed to put together focus groups to add outside employees to our coalition meetings. A rotating schedule of employees was originally discussed but then the idea of having a Q1 of 2005 visit to each office where Shawn can explain the coalition and what has been done thus far.

By 12/04/2004 (the next meeting) anyone who would like to “take a stab” at a vision statement is encouraged to do so. If you do generate a statement make certain that it is some electronic format.

The next meeting will be Saturday 12/04/04 starting at 8:30a:m in the Omaha office.
