Summary

/ World Osteoporosis Day (WOD) is an opportunity for the global bone, muscle and joint community to unite in the fight against osteoporosis and help raise awareness. Our Committee of National Societies (CNS) are encouraged to roll out WOD on a national level by either using the toolkit and material provided by IOF or by aligning it with their own strategic priorities.
The main ambition being for as many organizations around the world to make noise on WOD. The focus of this year’s contest is therefore on how our member organizations celebrate WOD on a country level.
IOF appreciates that its members have different levels of resources and capacity and will take this into consideration when judging the contest. So no matter how big or small your activities are, please share them with us by entering the contest.

/ Cash prize of 2,000 CHF to use in the development of WOD 2015 and an awardees certificate

-Guest judge
  • The best WOD campaign will be awarded during the IOF WWC 2015, Athens. Greece and advertised through IOF’s website and social media network.

Criteria for the grant / Organizations must address the following questions when submitting their applications:
  1. Describe how WOD helps you meet your organization’s objectives?
  2. Do you track the progress of your campaign from one year to the next? If so what measures do you use i.e. number of media articles, website hits etc., people at event, please list the data you collect with the associated results for the last two WOD campaigns. If you only collected results in 2014, please submit these only.
  3. What are you planning for WOD 2015, which is focused on the life-course approach to Nutrition with the campaign slogan Serve up bone strength and which audiences are you targeting and how (general public, children or women specifically, doctors, policy makers, allied health professionals etc.)?
  4. How many people approximately do you anticipate reaching through your efforts and what assets/material/tools will you use?
  5. If you win, how will the prize money be used in your 2015 WOD campaign?

  • Attach a word document (maximum 800 words) or PowerPoint presentation that answers thefive questions outlined in the “Criteria for the grant” section above.
  • You can send supporting documentation e.g. media reports, links to campaign sites and videos, photos or any campaign evaluation reports you may have compiled to address question 2 outlined in the “Criteria for the grant” section above.
The winning organization is expected to give a presentation on their submission during the Contest Session taking place from 12.00-12.45 on Saturday, September 12.
