I.Thestudentinternwillbeintheagencyforupto15weeks,fromto:400totalhoursfortheequivalentof10credits.ThestudentinternwillconcurrentlybeattendinganIntegrativeSeminarClassonMondaysfrom10amuntil12:30p.m.ORfrom1:30p.m.until4p.m.The2½hoursofseminarclasstimearenotincludedinthetotalfieldhours.

II.Thestudentinternwillexhibitthepracticebehaviorsandcorecompetenciesthroughthepracticetasksandassignmentsmutuallyagreeduponbythestudentinternandtheinstructor/supervisor,withfeedbackfromthefacultyliaison.Thesepracticetasks/assignmentswillbedefinedspecificallyintheFieldEducationLearningAgreementandevaluatedthroughoutthesemesterthroughvariousmeansincludingprocessrecordings,directobservation,consultation,mid-‐semesterevaluation,etc.culminatingintheendofthesemestercompetencybasedevaluation.

III.TheagencyFieldEducationinstructor/supervisorwillrecognizethestudentasaFieldEducationstudentinternandtothatendwillprovideappropriateexperiencesandinstruction.Theagencyinstructor/supervisoragreestoprovideadequateagencyresourcesincludingregularsupervisiontoallowmaximumlearningforthestudentinternpertherolesandresponsibilitiesforFieldEducationidentifiedintheFieldEducationManual.

IV.Studentinternandclientsafetyisacrucialpartofsocialworkpractice.Thestudentinternisrequiredtoobtainhis/herownliabilityinsurance.Studentinternsarealsorequiredtoobtaincriminalclearancesandchildabuseclearances.Additionallyifthestudentinternwillbeworkingwithchildren/adolescents,he/sheisrequiredtoobtainanFBIclearance.Verificationofliabilityinsuranceandclearancesarerequiredbeforethestudentinternbeginshis/herfieldeducationexperience.StudentsshouldbringcopiesoftheirclearancesandliabilityinsurancetotheFieldInstructor/supervisorwithinthefirstweekofplacement.

Studentinternsneedtocompleteanysafetytraining(s)thatarerequiredofagencystaff.
Studentinternsneedtocompleteanyotherpertinenttraining(s)thatarerequiredoftheagencystaff.
Studentinternsshouldnottransportclientsintheirownvehicles.StudentinternswhoarerequestedtotransportclientsinanagencyvehiclemustbecoveredbytheagencyvehicleinsurancepolicyandaverificationofagencyvehicleinsurancecoverageneedstobepresentedtotheFieldEducationCoordinatorpriortoanyeventinwhichastudentinternisinvolvedintransportingclientsinanagencyvehicle.

V.TheSocialWorkProgramwillprovidethestudentinternandtheagencyinstructor/supervisorwiththefollowing:

AconcurrentintegrativeseminarclassforstudentinternsisscheduledonMondaysfrom10

a.m.until12:30p.m.ORfrom1:30p.m.until4p.m.

CoordinatorofFieldEducationtooverseetheFieldEducationInternshipExperienceforstudentinternsandprovideassistancetoagencyinstructors/supervisorsandfacultyliaisonsasneeded.

Adesignatedfacultyliaisonwillmakeaminimumoftwovisitswiththeagencyinstructor/supervisorandstudentinternandwillmaintainregularcontactwithboththefieldinstructorandstudentinternthroughoutthesemestertonegotiatethetasks/activitiesof theFieldEducationLearningAgreement,discussanyissuesorconcerns,andtoprocessthestudentintern’saccomplishmentsintermsofthepracticebehaviorsandcorecompetencies. Face-Face visits can be substituted with phone, skype, or face-time meetings on a case-by-case basis when all parties are in agreement. Additionally,thefacultyliaisonisabletoprovideconsultationtotheagencyinstructor/supervisoronanyissuesthatarisewiththefieldeducationinternshipplacement.

Agradeforthestudentinternthatisdirectlycorrelatedtothedegreeofaccomplishment/levelofcompetencythatthestudentinternhasachievedintermsofasuccessfulinternshipplacementinpreparationforfutureprofessionalsocialworkpractice.
