Letter of Intent

for the

Colony of Jamestown

The following are the reasons for creating such an establishment:

Reason #1: Money Can Be Made

There is believed to a large supply of gold in the area of North America where we plan to establish our colony. Once it is sent back to England, it can be added to our treasury and help keep England strong as the world’s greatest economic power. Also, with the abundant amount of land available, we will be able to experiment growing new crops that may also lead to a wealth of new materials and resources being introduced into the global market.

Reason #2: Maintain Global Dominance

If we do not act quickly in seizing control of the region, someone else will. The last thing England needs to see happen is the wealth of this area being taken advantage of by French, Spanish, or Portuguese settlers. We must build this colony to preserve England’s dominance in the world.

Reason #3 Glory for England and its Great King

Building a colony in the Americas will provide us with the perfect opportunity to show world the power of England. It was always be an honor to name our colony after our great King James I. With this colony as his namesake, his name will live on for generations to come as the great king who seized the opportunity to supply his country with access to new forms of wealth and cemented England’s place as the world most powerful nation.
