Dear Transport Canada and the Office of Boating Safety,

On behalf of [ insert Organization’s Full Legal Name ], we, the undersigned, would like to submit this Letter of Intent to submit project proposals in accordance with the Transport Canada Boating Safety Class Contribution Program (BSCCP). As of the present date, our organization intends to carry out one or more projects during the TC Program Implementation Year of 2010-2011. These projects will encompass at least one of each of the following [ proposed activities circled or highlighted ]:

A) OBJECTIVES

i.  improve national boating incident data quality and collection systems to support evidence-based awareness and education initiatives; and/or

ii. raise public awareness of boating safety issues; and/or

iii.  increase the level of pleasure craft (or small boat) operators following safe boating practices; and/or

iv.  contribute to the reduction in loss of life, injuries and property damage, due to boating accidents.

B) TARGET GROUPS

i.  Powerboat Operators; and/or

ii.  Anglers and Hunters who use watercraft

iii.  Paddling Community (canoe, kayak, rafting, rowing); and/or

iv.  Sailing Crafts (all sizes); and/or

v.  Other small vessels as defined by TC

C) CATEGORIES

i.  Data collection; and/or

ii.  Outreach activities; and/or

iii.  Research; and/or

iv.  Polls and Surveys.

As indicated, our proposed projects will be in alignment with Transport Canada’s Office of Boating Safety mandate to increase awareness amongst Canadian recreational boaters, to decrease numbers of personal injuries and recreational boating accidents, and loss of life.

General Project Description or Outline should include:

- the general intent or scope of the project(s)

- a general description of the number of project participants, and whether they will be volunteers, employed staff or 3rd Party contributors

- the proposed locations, region or national span

- an estimate or range of the total project budget

- an estimate of the project start and end dates.

We, the undersigned, recognize that this Letter of Intent to participate does not bind us to (a) submit a project application or (b) submit a project application that includes the exact partners listed herein. We understand that this letter of intent will be used by Transport Canada and The Office of Boating Safety to communicate with prospective Recipients and to adequately prepare for the project review process.
