Mountaineering

Snowdonia

Friday 25th- Sunday 27thNovember 2016

Pick Up Times-

  • Lenton (Behind Savoy Cinema)–6:00pm
  • Portland building University park campus (outside front) – 6:15pm

Please don’t be late– It takes time for us to pack the kit onto the busand we don’t want to get there any later than we have to, call if you are running late!

We will stop somewhere en route to give people an opportunity to purchase breakfasts and lunches for Saturday and Sunday so remember to bring money for that.

Accommodation

  • We are staying in the Anabasis mountaineering society hut.
  • You’ll need a sleeping bag,if you don't have one let us know and we can get one for you as the club and other members have a few spares.
  • If you feel like you might die without one bring a pillow (seriously though… no… just… no)
  • We will cook for you Saturday evening so you only need to bring food for breakfasts and lunches. The club will also provide milk and butter. There will be a stop on the way to buy food.
  • On Friday you can either eat before we leave or have some money to buy food en route.

Tips

Shanes TOP TIPS!!!

Apparently the hut can get quite cold at night so if you’re a bit of a nancy feel free to bring extra warm gear for the hut in the evenings, save being cold for when you’re actually on the mountain. We won’t judge… (lies)

Also!!!

For this trip you shall need to bring your own bowl/plate, mug and knife/fork/spoon! You have been told!!!!

  • The drive up can be boring and so a book/personal stereo/DVD player might be a good idea.
  • Snacks for the journey up are nice.
  • Food for the mountains needs to be easily eaten – sandwiches, choc bars, pasties etc. (It’s perfectly okay to ignore any diet you’re on for the weekend and buy crap, as long as it gives you energy.) But again these can be brought en route
  • Don’t forget your WATERPROOFS! Forgetting waterproofs is punishable by anything ranging from stress positions to being poked in the eye with a shitty stick.

All members are to acknowledge the BMC participation statement: “The BMC recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury and death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.”

Health

Please speak to a member of the committee if you have any health problems which may affect you on the trip. It is important for us to know if there is anything that may affect you on the hill. Also let us know if you have any allergies or food requirementsand we will try to make the evening meal suitable.
