Nothing is more tragic than a life lost needlessly.
At St John Ambulance, the nation’s leading first aid charity, we give people the vital skills to be the difference between lives lost and saved - and you can help us do this.
St John Ambulance is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed individual to handle charitable legacies totalling approximately £4m a year. Liaising with banks, solicitors and personal executors, the post-holder will manage the casework resulting from legacy notifications including: processing all legacy income; reviewing estate accounts; ensuring that tax deduction certificates are completed; giving instructions in relation to the disposal of land and investments; liaising with other charities where required; and handling general administration in relation to legacies and other legal matters.
Working as the charity’s sole legacy administrator, and reporting to the Senior Legal Advisor, the post-holder will ideally hold a good honours degree and be a Barrister/Solicitor. Previous experience as a charity Legacy Officer is essential, and a working knowledge of ‘First Class’ is highly desirable. A basic knowledge of Contract and/or Property Law is also desirable.
