2011 WASHINGTON FAMILY RANCH

LEAVE NO CAMPER BEHIND FUND

Each year, Washington Family Ranch Staff commit to raising and giving funds to assist the needs of Young Life kids throughout the Northwest through the “Leave No Camper Behind” fund. The primary goal of this fund is to provide scholarships for 1st timeHigh School & Middle School campers.

Application guidelines have changed for 2011- please read all the instructions carefully.

How to apply:

  1. Fill out and submit the application after January 1st, 2011. Email submission is preferred, but you can also snail mail applications. For High School and Middle Schoolcampers, applications are accepted through June 1st, 2011 as long as funds are available. The area director who signed the application will be notified if and how much money will be awarded within one month of the request.
  2. Applications are on a first apply, first awarded basis for qualified campers. The number of scholarships will be dependent on the funds available each year.

Application Requirements:

  1. A completed application must include a photo of the camper & an area director’s signature. Applications will not be considered without those two itemssubmitted together. When emailing, simply attach a photo to your email along with the Word document.
  2. Scholarships are for kids that face unusual hardships that might make it difficult for them to attend camp without financial help. This may include but is not limited to broken or single parent homes, physically challenged, poverty, etc. The application must state in detail the reason why you believe this teenager needs financial assistance and should include more a more detailed explanation than “they could not come to camp without the scholarship”. Washington Family Ranch staff and others who have donated to this fund will be praying specifically for each camper & leader; applications may be delayed in being processed if adequate information about the camper is not given.

Fund Guidelines:

  1. The camper must be attending WFR during the high school or middle school summer weeks. Scholarship amounts are deducted from the transfer of camp fees for the area at the end of the camper’s week at WFR.
  1. From January 1, 2011 until March 1, 2011, areas may submit up to 5 applications per school for high school and middle school campers. After March 1st areas will be limited to 3 scholarships per school.
  2. Gifts will range from $200.00 for middle school to $250.00 for high school per camper.
  1. Scholarships are camper specific. The camper must attend camp during the week specified for the area to receive the financial transfer. If the camper does not come to camp, the scholarship is not automatically transferable to another camper from the area but if it is known before June 1st, 2011 that the camper who has already received a scholarship cannot attend, you may submit a new camper application and photo for the committee to review. Those areas who received 5 scholarships may only replace three of their applications if campers cannot attend.
  1. The area must be willing to send a follow-up paragraph on the camper’s experience at camp. These notes will be used to encourage and inform the staff and donors who have made this fund possible and should not simply be thank you notes but should give detail of the camper’s week. Areas will have until October 1st, 2011 to complete the paragraphs. Areas who fail to do this will not be eligible for scholarships for the following summer.
