WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES– Upon completion of this conference, Medical Staff Professionals will:
√ Learn about the legal cases that lead to current credentialing requirements
√ Understand the current regulatory and accreditation requirements
√ Review the specific processes such as initial appointment, clinical privileging, reappointment, reappraisal, and/or renewal of privileges, performance monitoring.
√ Address other credentialing challenges, such as temporary privileges, telemedicine practitioners, and allied health professionals.

PRESENTER:
Jan Kern, CPMSM, CPCS: Jan Kern has worked in Medical Staff Services in the Tucson Community for nearly 30 years. She has been at Northwest Medical Center for 20 years and served as the Director of Medical Staff Services for 17 years. Jan oversees Medical Staff Services at NMC and provides primary source credentialing services for NMC, Oro Valley Hospital, and Tucson Surgery Center, as well as managed care credentialing for approximately 140 employed Northwest Allied Physicians. Jan has been a member of the National Association of Medical Staff Services and achieved NAMSS CPCS certification in 1999 and CPMSM certification in 2008. She is a member of the Arizona Association of Medical Staff Services and has served AAMSS as a Member-At-Large from 2009 – 2012, Education Chairman from September 2010 – 2012, President-Elect in 2013, and assumed the role of AAMSS President in 2014. Jan was actively involved in the original establishment of the Southern Arizona Chapter of the Arizona Association of Medical Staff Services and has served the Chapter as President, President-Elect, and Past-President.
