PE is timetabled for every class (KS1 & KS2) to take part in 2 hours of PE per week. Typically an outdoor session which might include games skills such as netball, hockey, ultimate Frisbee, tennis, rounders and many more across the year groups. Also included in the outdoor sessions will be opportunities to take part in Outdoor and Adventure Activities. The second session is a timetabled indoor session in the school hall this could include dance, gymnastics, dodgeball, squareball, Zumba or Sportshall Athletics among others. At some point in KS2 all children will be given the opportunity to take part in at least 10 weeks of swimming with the aim at ensuring all pupils achieve minimum of 25metres before leaving Primary school. Coverage is supported through a Long and medium term plan set out by the PE lead.

Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this.

Possible uses for the funding might include:

•hiring specialist PE teachers or qualified sports coaches to work with primary teachers when teaching PE

•supporting and engaging the least active children through new or additional Change4Life clubs

•paying for professional development opportunities for teachers in PE and sport

•providing cover to release primary teachers for professional development in PE and sport

•running sport competitions, or increasing pupils’ participation in the School Games

•buying quality assured professional development modules or materials for PE and sport

•providing places for pupils on after school sports clubs and holiday clubs
