Lauterbach launches support for Infineon XMC4000 family

Hoehenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn, January 2012 –Lauterbach, the leading manufacturer of microprocessor development tools, launches support for the new state-of-the art 32-Bit XMC4000 microcontroller family of Infineon Technologies, which is based on the ARM® Cortex™ -M4 processor.
Lauterbach's existing Cortex™-M debugger has been enhanced for the Infineon XMC4000 family. It supports efficient and user-friendly debugging at the C or C++ level over the on-chip JTAG or Serial Wire Debug interface. The TRACE32® CombiProbe can quickly access all internal chip units such as peripheral units, registers, and flash and RAM memories and supports the complete Debug and Trace unit including ETM and ITM. It connects to all host computers running Windows or Linux over USB 2.0, Ethernet 10/100 or 1000 MBit/s, over which the internal flash memory can be programmed. TRACE32® PowerTools have an unlimited number of software breakpoints in the RAM and flash memory areas. Debugging at the HLL and assembler levels and support of the most commonly used C and C++ compilers are standard features. Existing users of a Cortex™ debugger can easily update the software to support the XMC4500 microcontroller.
"Lauterbach has worked with Infineon for many years in support of its various architectures and cores. All developers who are creating products around XMC4000 family now have access to TRACE32®, the worldwide most commonly used and highly rated debug environment", said Norbert Weiss, International Sales and Marketing Manager at Lauterbach.
Dr. Stephan Zizala, Senior Director, Industrial and Multimarket Microcontrollers at Infineon Technologies, appreciates the commitment of Lauterbach to provide support for the new architecture and core in synchronization with the launch of the first XMC4000 silicon. "With the availability of TRACE32® CombiProbe for the XMC4000 microcontroller family of Infineon, Lauterbach offers a tool which is customized for Cortex™-M products to make sure that our mutual customers can benefit the extensive Debug and Trace capabilities of the XMC4000 family. With the real-time streaming mode TRACE32® offers important features like Real-time Profiling and Code Coverage Analysis"

The first device in the 32-bit XMC4000 family that Infineon is bringing to market is the XMC4500 series. XMC4500 delivers the brainpower for a variety of industrial applications facing high innovation pressure at decreasing development cycle times. It is dedicated to enable highly energy-efficient products with industrial interconnection capabilities applications including electric drives, solar inverters and the automation of manufacturing and buildings. Infineon′s in-depth microcontroller know-how, demonstrated over the past decades in a number of well-recognized cores and peripherals, guarantees the best real-time performance in the industry, now combined with all benefits of a widely known industry standard core architecture.
