A.B.D., Comparative Literature, SUNY Buffalo, 1975-78.

Philosophy, literature and politics: Hegel, Heidegger, Joyce, Shakespeare, Goethe, Spengler, Brecht, Kojêve, Benjamin, Derrida, Barthes, Vico, modernism and post-modernism, sacrificial and mimetic theory, linguistics and systems analysis. Major professors: Rene Girard, Marc Shell, Homer Brown and Eugenio Donato. Passed doctoral candidacy exam with distinction. Dissertation topic: The Exiles Triangle: A Study of James Joyce and His Role in the Formation of a National Consciousness.
