Lauren Freemon-Besch, the president of student council, is the daughter of Steve and Kelli Parker. Lauren says that she thinks it is “cool, exciting, and good,” that the 6th Graders make up the student council this year at Holliday. Lauren plays the piano, collects rocks, draws, and colors for fun. She likes the color red, daisies, math, kickball, and hanging out with her family. Her advice for the younger students is the golden rule: “Treat others the way you want to be treated.” She likes to smile, laugh, draw, read, art, computer, math, and poetry. Tajah Strickland, the daughter of Taiasha Price and Tyson Strickland, is thevice president of student council. Tajah is happy and excited to be on student council. She likes to dance and sing, and she enjoys The Miami Heat, the color blue, daisies, math, and working. Tajah’s advice to younger students is: “Never give up and work hard.” She likes drawing, cheerleading, origami, getting along with others, and being kind. Tajah’s favorite book is: Junebug and The Reverend. Her favorite movie is: Rags. Her favorite TV show is: Vampire Diaries. Tajah considers herself helpful, funny and kind. She says, “I am good with younger children, because I help them with their work.” She wants to be known as caring. When she grows up, Tajah will be a lawyer, doctor, or a nurse. Viviana Murillo Martinez, the daughter of Maria Martinez, is the secretary of student council. Viviana says her talent is: she has lots of friends. She likes the colors: black, blue, purple, and she likes playing with her friends. Viviana’s advice for the younger students is: “be responsible, respectful, nice, helpful, and always do your best.” She likes to draw, read, gym class, video games, cooking, baking, and including everyone. Her favorite book is: Fins Forever, she does not have a favorite movie, and she likes Ton TV. She is a smart person who is a really good artist. She says, “To get world peace, try to be nice and helpful at all times.” Viviana is in Mrs. Brooks-Smiths’ class.

NeishaAlis Murray, the daughter of Donna and Richard Murray is the treasurer of student council. Neisha feels excited, honored, and special to be on student council. She likes to sing, dance, and read. Neisha’s advice for younger students is: “Be yourself. Be confident. Follow your dreams.” Neisha says she likes gym class, music, origami, computer, and doing extra work. Her favorite book is: A Series of Unfortunate Events, and The Wide Window. Her favorite movie is: Frozen, and her favorite TV shows are: How to Rock, Justin Beiber, and All Around the World. She says, “I am kind, caring, responsible, and I make smart choices.” She says “I think I am a good role model because I listen to all of the teachers.” She wants to be known as an intelligent beautician when she grows up or a veterinarian. To get world peace, Neisha says, “Pick up all the trash around the world and give homeless people a home. Throw away all weapons.” Neisha is in Mr. Lawless’ class.

Alexis Renee Abraham is the daughter of Brenda Pagie. Alexis says she felt great and happy when she discovered she was on student council. She likes singing, reading, music, drawing, Gamer Girl, and Dreamer. Her favorite color is tropical violet. Her favorite book is: The Books of Elsewhere, her favorite movie is: Life Size, and her favorite TV shows are: D. Gray-man and Black Butler. Her advice for the younger students is: “Never give up on your dream.” She says she thinks she is a good role model for her classmates because “I help students with their dreams.” She says she wants to be a mangaka (comic artist) when she grows up, and she says she thinks we should have no killing and no wars. Ahnais Bass, the daughter of Tonya Bass, says she felt “happy, awesome and great” about being sworn into student council. She likes dancing, singing, marching in drill team, and cooking. Ahnais’ favorite color is pink, and her favorite school subject is math. Her advice for the younger students is: “never drop out of school.” She says she likes to smile, laugh, dance, cook, bake, and she includes everyone when she plays. She likes math and gym class. Her favorite book is: The Hunger Games and Sugar Plum Ballerinas. Her favorite TV show is: Carly, and her favorite movie is: The Hunger Games. She reports that she is on the drill team, the Marching Cobras, and she thinks she is a good role model, because she often gets her work finished first. She wants to be a doctor when she grows up, and she looks forward to buying her first house and first car. She says she thinks we should stop “the shooting and the fighting.” Ahnais is in Ms. Schmidt’s class.

Terrence Collins Jr., the son of Terrence Collins Sr., feels great, proud and excited to be on student council this year. He says he likes to run track, gymnastic, and roping. He likes football, especially The Green Bay Packers, math, and reading both in and outside of school. He says he wants to be an example-setter, not a trouble-maker. His talents are: origami, being helpful, caring, working on a computer, science, getting along well with others, being friendly, helping others, peacemaking, and doing extra work. Terrence’s favorite book is: Harry Potter. He likes the movie: Dark Night Rising, and BET. Terrence will be a firefighter or a doctor when he grows up, he wants to help the community. Makayla Golston, daughter of Glen Golston, was excited, happy, and surprised to learn that she is in student council. She likes singing, rapping, dancing, and texting. She enjoys the Lakers, Miami Heat, the colors red, black and pink. Makayla’s advice for younger students is: “be nice and have fun.” She states that she likes basketball, reading, cooking, baking, video games, writing songs, and she enjoys being kind to others. Her favorite book is: Rainbow Magic Fairies. Her favorite movie is: Obsessed, and her favorite TV shows are: Shake it Up, The Parkers, and “a lot more”. She says “I love to dance,” and she is a good role model because she likes caring for and helping people. She wants to be a heart surgeon when she grows up. La’Quan Leontae Hattley, the son of Laddana Debee, feels “excited, great, and nervous” about being on student council. La’Quan plays basketball and football, sings and is a comedian. His favorite team is Miami Heat, and he likes to do back flips. His advice for younger students is: “Stay in school!” La’Quan’s strengths are: dancing, chess, basketball, music, being in plays, being a peacemaker, being kind and helpful, and doing extra work. His favorite book is: Spider WIC, his favorite movie is: Bounty Hunter, and his favorite TV show is: Sponge Bob, Square Pants. He says, “I can sing; I just hide my talent.” La’Quan will be a police officer when he grows up, or a basketball coach. He is in Ms. Schmidt’s class.

Keairra Unique Jackson, the daughter of Katherine D. Woods, felt “great, nervous, and respectful” when she discovered that she is a student council member. She is good at basketball, being flexible, running and dancing. She likes to help charities like ReStart. Her advice for younger students is: “Never give up!” Keairra likes to laugh and dance. She includes everyone when she plays, and she enjoys poetry and music. Her favorite book is: Twilight. Her favorite movie is: Timothy Green, and her favorite TV show is: Good Luck Charlie. She loves to do research, and her favorite colors are purple and black. She says she is respectful to others, and she gets her work finished. She will be a lawyer, vet, or a charity maker when she grows up. She wants to write the mayor and ask him to please stop violence in Kansas City, and give money to the homeless and help kids so they will not give up on school. Keairra is in Mrs. Schmidt’s class.

Jade Mabin, daughter of Harold Mabin, reports that she felt great, happy and excited to be sworn in to student council. Jade likes to act, cook, and help others. She likes the color purple, science, shopping, and having fun. Jade’s advice to the younger students is: “Always do your best!” She likes to smile, laugh, dance, draw, and she likes being a peacemaker. She is a good reader, good at music, math, science and reading. Jade’s favorite book is: My Life As A Book, her favorite movie is: Joyful Noise, and her favorite TV shows are: Pretty Little Liars and Sponge Bob. She says, “I love to wear wrist bands.’ She wants to eventually be known as a “nice person who helps animals.” She says we could have world peace if we called everyone a friend, and we were all kind and respectful. KhariMcGairty, the daughter of Elisha Latimore, is happy, excited and thrilled to be on student council. Khari likes to draw, likes doing hair, and likes to swim. She says that her favorite subjects are: math, geography; she likes the Miami Heat, dancing, singing, and step. Khari’s advice to younger students is: “Keep trying and do not give up!” She likes basketball, art, baking, math, cheerleading, and doing extra work. Khari’s favorite book is: Horrible Harry. Her favorite movie is: “Let it shine,” and her favorite TV show is: How to Rock. She is a good role model because, “I get my work done, and I know how to follow directions the first time.” Khari will be a vet and a cosmetologist when she grows up. A’majine Adai Pearson, the daughter of Syretta and Aaron Pearson, feels great, amazed, and awesome about being on student council. She likes singing, dancing, cheerleading and baking. A’majine’s favorite team is the New York Giants. She likes roses and the color purple. Her advice to younger students is: “Stay in school.” She likes to draw, bake, cook, cheerlead, and make peace. She especially likes gym class. A’majine’s favorite books are the Junie B Jones books, her favorite movie is: The Hunger Games, and her favorite TV show is: Good Luck Charlie. She thinks she is a good role model because she gets her work finished.” She wants to be known as “a good student.” She says we should end all war, if we want world peace. Miauni Ross, the daughter of Mollie Ross, feels great, responsible, and helpful about being on student council. She likes The Denver Broncos, the New York Giants, and she loves to play kickball. Miauni’s advice to younger students is: “Do what’s right.” She likes to dance, draw, basketball, math, gym, computer, cooking, music, helping others and being friendly. Miauni’s favorite book is: Charlotte’s Web. Her favorite movie is: Jump in, and her favorite TV shows are: Bet and Honey. She thinks she is a good role model because she is kind, she wants to be an artist when she grows up, and a game designer. Bradford Thornton, the son of Jacqueline Thornton, feels excited about the many “possibilities” of being in student council. He likes swimming, go-carting, arcades, gaming, and being a mathematical strategist. His favorite things are: OKC and science. Bradford’s advice for the younger students is: “Keep learning, so you can achieve your dreams.” Bradford reports, “I am kind, helpful, and a great friend.” He wants to be a video game designer when he grows up. Bradford thinks that world peace should “be a law”. Bradford is in Mrs. Brooks-Smith’s class.

Samantha G. Wilson, the daughter of Jim Wilson and Barbara Robinson, says she was happy, surprised, and excited to find out she is on student council this year. She likes reading, dancing, chess, and she says, “I am good with little kids.” Samantha’s favorites are: turquoise, peonies, reading and dancing. Her advice for younger students is: “Try your hardest, no matter what.”Samantha likes art, computer, gym class, and being a peacemaker. Her favorite book is: The Queens Blade, her favorite movie is: The Mummy, and her favorite TV show is: I Love Lucy. Samantha is a good role model because “I get all of my work finished, and I am kind.” She wants to be known for being responsible. When she grows up, she will be a secretary for a millionaire. She thinks if we are to have world peace, we must learn to compromise. Samantha is in Mrs. Brooks-Smith’s class.

Shamarr Enrique Wright-Thompson, the son of Yolanda Wright, felt great, happy and excited about being chosen for student council. He likes basketball, football, baseball, and drawing. He likes The Chicago Bulls, chess, and math. Shamarr’s advice to younger students is: “Always follow the rules.” He enjoys reading, being helpful, gym class, math, and music.
