EAUC-Scotland Topic Support Networks

Friday 25 May 2007

A CaSPr event at The Boardroom, G43, Paterson’s Land, Moray House School of Education on Holyrood Road, Edinburgh,EH8 8AQ

What is a Topic Support Network?

As part of CaSPr, five topic support networks (TSNs) are being set up. Each network will share ideas, discuss problems and developsolutions for a particular sustainability topic. Initially it is intended to establish five TSNs that between them will cover Waste, Energy, Travel, Construction and Strategic Development.

Each TSN will be composed of a Coordinator for the topic (nominated by EAUC-Scotland), individuals from FHE institutions in Scotland with an interest in the topic, and individuals from other organisations (CaSPr strategic partners) which have a role to play in the topic. There will be no limit to how many representatives can be involved in each network nor how many networks individuals wish to be engaged with.

Further information about the TSN will be e-mailed out in advance to those registering for the workshop.

What is the purpose and objectives of this workshop?

The aim of the event is to enable relevant individuals from FHE and CaSPr strategic partners to meet and consider how to take forward the Topic Support Networks.

The workshop objectives are to provide participants with the opportunity to:

  • Discussthe concept andoperation of the TSNs and consider how people can participate;
  • Meet other people and organisations that have an interest in particular sustainability topics
  • Consider how individuals and institutions can benefit from being involved in a TSN;
  • Identify the key problems experienced by participants in trying to improve performance in each of the topic areas; and begin to develop practical solutions to them
  • Plan an initial programme of activity for each TSN.

Everyone will have the chance during the day to contribute to three of the topics.

Who should attend?

The event is for anyone in a ScottishCollege or University with a professional or personal interest in waste, energy, travel, construction or strategic development. Attendance by those with an interest in or with responsibilities for sustainability within a college or universityis particularly encouraged. The event is free of charge.
