Background
The ICT-KM Program of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)and other international organizations are jointly organizing a Knowledge Share Fair in the field of agricultural research and development and food security for Latin America and the Caribbean. Hosted at the Campus of the InternationalCenter for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT),this event will build on the successful outcome of the first Knowledge “Share Fair” (Rome, 2009).
Objectives
The main objectives of the event are to:
- Demonstrate how formal and informal knowledge sharing improves the effectiveness and impact of working activities
- Encourage sharing and learning from each others’ good practices
- Provide staff from different organizations with the opportunity to create networks for future collaboration
- Develop ideas to enhance knowledge sharing within and across organizations and experiment with new tools and methodologies
Themes
Specific themes will include:
- Good knowledge sharing practices with project teams, partners, communities, networks, and end users
- Good practices in making research processes and outputs accessible, available and applicable
Sub-themes will be organized based on the proposals we will receive.
Format
The Fair will be structured in exhibition stands, hands-on training, and facilitated discussion sessions with interactive modes of sharing the activities, focusing on the experiences and lessons learned. Participants will explore how different face-to-face methods and virtual knowledge sharing tools can be applied to their work and present innovative solutionsthat encourage effective collaboration and networking.
Language
Applications should be submitted in Spanish or English. In case of submissions in Spanish, we encourage you to provide an abstract in English.

Please write a short paragraph describing the proposal content (maximum 100 words) with emphasis on the knowledge sharing aspects of the project or initiative.

Note:Please be informed that assignment of the below format is not guaranteed and will be subject to availability at the location.
Sessions --Sessions are designed to allow you to share your experience in an interactive format and to learn with participants who work on similar topics. A facilitator will be assigned to your session to prepare the session format with you. The facilitator will be present for the entire duration of the session.Power Point presentations are strongly discouraged during these sessions.
Exhibition stands-- Exhibition stands offer an opportunity to share information using posters, photographs, booklets, brochures etc. The standwill consist of tables and may be shared with other presenters.
Poster board -- Everyone displaying a poster will be present at his/her board at a certain time during the Fair.
Video demonstration --This will be an opportunity to show video films documenting interesting experiences. The film duration should be shorter than 10 minutes. The presenters will be responsible for ensuring the format is appropriate.
Other formats (musical play, storytelling, etc.) are encouraged. Please specify.
