Lantra Land-based Learner Awards 2015

The awardsare to recognise the initiative, skills and enthusiasm of individuals pursuing careers within the environmental and land-based sector.

1Award categories

“Young Learner”

Open to candidates 26 years or under on the 1st January 2015, who are developing a career within theenvironmental and land-based industries and who have shown a commitment to vocational education and training since leaving school.

“Lifelong Learner”

Open to anybody over the age of 26 years,on the 1st January 2015, who has excelled in training and improving their skills and as a result benefited the business in which they work, the industry that they represent, or developed a successful enterprise.

Lantra Leadership and Management Qualification Award

Open to all Lantra Leadership and Management Award clients who have undertaken training through the Lantra Leadership and Management Programme since April 2015.

Nominations

All candidates must be nominated by a college, training provider or an employer within the sector.

2Awards process

Stage 1 – Application form

Stage 2 – Regional rounds

There will be three regional rounds in South, Mid and North Wales – dates and locations to be confirmed. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend their appropriate regional round.

Candidates are required to attend an informal interview which will be conducted by a panel of local representatives from the environmental and land-based sector. Candidates will be asked to identify a topic of particular interest to them, around which the short interview (approximately 15-20 minutes) may be conducted, in addition to answering general questions.

Candidates will be considered on their achievements, level of skill, attitude and ability to cope with problems, and in their use of initiative in attempting to secure a better future for themselves within the environmental and land-based sector.

Stage 4 – Presentation of Awards

The winner of each category will be announced and the awards presented at the Royal Welsh Winter Fair held at the Lantra building, Builth Wells in front of an invited audience of family, friends, media and industry representatives on Monday 30th November 2015.
