I am working as a part time researcher at Beirut Research and Innovation Center (BRIC). The topic is about landmine detection.

October 2013-June 2014AUBBeirut, Lebanon

I am working as a Research Assistant (RA) at American University of Beirut (AUB).The subject is about the use of biosensors in explosive detection and localization. A journal paper is published due June 2014 at IJSER (International Journal of Scientific and Engineering

Research) entitled “Sensor Review for Trace Detection of Explosives.”

September 2011-October2013Cedarcom BroadbandBeirut, Lebanon

My post was RF Engineer. Basically, work includes providing Internet Services to customers around Lebanon. It is based upon troubleshooting problems that the user faces and proceeding to intervention when needed. Configuring Aperto Base Stations and Subscriber Units, Mikrotik, Tranzeo, Dragon Wave, and Eclipse.

August 2011-September 2011 ERICSSON Beirut, Lebanon

I learned how to acquire 2G competency for Radio Network Planning and optimization in order to optimize and improve the network performance.

October 2009-June2011 AUB Beirut, Lebanon

  • Lab duties: helping the students build up their circuit on a bread board and test it using lab tools such as (Digital Multi-meter, Function generator, Oscilloscope), then doing simulations using Spice for later fabrication on a PCB board.
  • Exam and quiz correction: grading the students on reports, pre-in-and post labs, and class participation based on a pre-assigned rubric.
  • Discussion forums: gathering information from one session to the other allows the students to pick up an idea on the subject that has been discussed (for example heating cooling system) after that, students negotiate with each other in an online discussion the suitable equipment that should be used in the product formation progress they also place the timeline needed to finish their work, CTQ (Critical To Quality), CBA (Cost Benefit Analysis), and suggestions from their peers to improve the product.
  • Projects: done during the lab sessions are to be graded in a final examination on the basis of a class presentation that summarizes the whole progress from brain storming till the production stage.

Certificates:

July14th to August14th 2008 Rafic Hariri International Airport Beirut, Lebanon

The training course has been held at the General Directory of Civil Aviation at Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport for a five week period. The first three weeks consisted lectures defining the work of Radar, Instrument Landing (ILS), Doppler VHF Omni Directional Range (DVOR), Distance Measuring Equipment (DME), Voice Communication System (VCS), Voice and Data Recording System (VDRS), Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Network (AFTN).Then a tour has been made all over the airport Electronic and Communication sections for practical view of the interface with the plane, pilot andcopilot. In addition to the detection of the plane’s position, inclination angle, flight plan, landing, weather conditions, transmission and reception of signals.

Excellent degree in phone maintenance.

June 2006CCC-BAUBeirut, Lebanon

AVR Microcontroller 15 hour training course.

July 1st till September 30th 2005CTF Beirut, Lebanon

Certificate in computer languages.

Final Year Project:

The Final Year Project is Telemedicine over Wi-Max. It aimed at giving medical consultation for patients outside the hospital using video conferencing and digital imaging systems with the aid of advanced wireless sensory networks such as Wi-Max, Zigbee, Bluetooth, and PDAs. The project has been studied theoretically since the practical implementation was impossible due to the lack of Wi-Max towers and the high cost of biomedical equipment.

Projects:

Below are some of the projects accomplished in team work during my university studies:

  • Designed a diversity antenna that is to be imbedded in a handheld mobile phone. In fact this is my thesis work and it shall be extended to MIMO in addition to a fabrication stage and shall hopefully be accepted as a journal paper.
  • Presented a paper at Lebanese Association for the Advancement of Science (LAAS) 20th conference in Lebanese University (LU)-Hadath due March 2014. The paper entitled “Sensors for Trace Detection of Explosives”.
  • Designed and built a reconfigurable antenna that resonates at three frequency values using switches and stubs. This work is my first publication under the title “A Frequency Reconfigurable Micro strip Rectangular Patch Antenna Using Stubs”. This work has been submitted as a paper in PIER conference that was held at Marrakesh due March 2011.
  • Designed and fabricated an amplifier to increase signal power and a power divider to couple the needed power to an antenna for signal transmission.
  • Designed a prototype of a link level Monte Carlo simulation in order to study the performance of diversity schemes over wireless channels.
  • Designed and built an elevator controlled by the 68HC11 microcontroller. The elevator had the following features:
  • Provided for the user selection of the destination floor via switches and for the display of the elevator location using a seven-segment display.
  • The door to open whenever the elevator reaches a destination floor. This project was done during the third year at BAU for presenting it in the engineering day.
