Re: Division 1 – Region 2 MHSAA Ski Meet

Lake Orion and Clarkston are please to co-host the 2014 MHSAA Ski Regional on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Pine Knob Ski Resort. Please provide the following to the Lake Orion High School Athletic Department and adhere to the MHSAA timelines.

Entry: Your team’s entry consists of three items:

1.  The MHSAA eligibility list from your athletic department.

2.  The MHSAA OFFICIAL RUN ORDER FORM

3.  E-mail ELECTRONIC FORM found on http://www.lakeorionskiteam.com/regionals-2-1.html

These three items are due to Lake Orion High School by 4:00 PM on Friday February 7th, 2014. Failure to meet this deadline will result in a $50 late fee mandated by the MHSAA and the entry will not be accepted without the check. It is suggested that you fax a copy of your entry materials prior to mailing them to ensure meeting the deadline

Opt-Out: If you are unable to field a 4-person team, you must opt-out. This means you must notify Lake Orion High School Athletic Department that you will not be fielding a girls’ or a boys’ team. Opt out sheet can be found on the MHSAA website under the sport of skiing.

Participating

Schools: Birmingham-Seaholm, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Hills-Academy Of The Sacred Heart (Girls), Clarkston, Detroit-U of D Jesuit (Boys), Fenton, Flushing, Grand Blanc, Holly, Lake Orion, Orchard Lake-St Mary Preparatory (Boys), Rochester Hills-Rochester, Rochester-Adams, Waterford Kettering, West Bloomfield

Tickets: Lift tickets cost $29.00 per athlete and must be visible. Pine Knob will provide two coaches lift tickets per team. Please contact the Pine Knob Ticket office 248-625-0800 in advance of race day to arrange for your team’s lift tickets.

Coaches

Meeting: Coaches meeting will be held on the 3 floor of Pine Knob lodge. The Pre-race meeting will be held at 7:30 AM. Member of the Jury include the finish referee, the chief of race and the technical delegate. See worker information sheet for names of these jury members.

Bibs: Each participant will be issued a lycra bib they will use throughout the day regardless of whether or not they are skiing both events or race in different flights in each discipline.

Team Seating: Tables ill be assigned to team.

Tents: Must be placed in designated area.

Food: Non-Commercial food can be brought in. Due to health code regulations, no food being brought in can be plugged in. Pine Knob is respectfully receptive to teams hosting their own lunches, however, any food that requires to be warmed up cannot be done so at the lodge. Also, please do not bring in commercial food in as Pine Knob can provide most meals at a reasonable cost in lieu of buying food from an outside provider. Out of respect for Pine Knob’s food service please adhere to this request and make sure your areas are cleaned up.

Ski Prep Area: There is not waxing inside the building of Pine Knob and all skis will have to remain outside during the race. Pine Knob has a complimentary ski check and we advise all athletes makes use of the ski check to protect equipment.

Inclement

Weather: Per MHSAA tournament managers manual:

When Teams are delayed in arriving at Mt Holly because of inclement weather:

1.  Management is encouraged to consider delaying competition for a few hours and/or beginning the tournament with participants present and prepared to participate with late arrivals racing when they arrive.

2.  If, after a reasonable delay, fewer than 60% of the scheduled teams/individuals have not arrived, the tournament must be re-scheduled.

3.  If 60% or more of the scheduled teams/individuals are present, the tournament is to be conducted on the day scheduled.

Sportsmanship: MHSAA penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct:

The meet manager and/or jury shall penalize improper language and unsportsmanlike conduct by adding a maximum of 5 points to the teams total and/or 5 seconds to an individuals total time. (MHSAA handbook Reg. V Sec. 3 Sportsmanship)
