NOVEMBER MEETING AT WEKIVAFALLS R.V. RESORT

First-Things-First, our Chapter President Charlie Hoelscher and wife Jenova, were not able to attend this Samboree, due to Charlie’s medical procedures. All of our prayer have been and still are with him for a very speedy recovery. Charlie& Jenova, you were sorely missed. Around 4 PM. On Tuesday 16th there were 8 units from Lake Eola Chapter had arrived at the campground. A few small groups went to different establishments for dinner. Some were on a special diet and did not desire to go where the others were going. One of those on a special diet, and I need not mention names but, the individual was on a soft diet due to dental work. That was “Her story and She stuck to it!” Of course we all know Bill is the Head of the House, the only problem was they were not at home but in their Motor Home, so I will stop there and let you fill in the blanks, as I do not believe in Gossip. Every morning except Sunday, most of the members gathered at the Catron coach for breakfast. Several members brought items or dishes to share, Thanks to all that did! In doing so, you proved again that we are still one large “Social Family”. Immediately after breakfast Wednesday, food items started coming form all in attendance to fill up the wagon for the raffle we normally have at the Samboree’s where 50% of the proceeds are donated to “Florida Dogs for The Deaf”. Except for Wednesday, Gale & Joan, sold Raffle Tickets every morning, a hardy “Thanks You” goes out to both of you as it sure did take the load off of several others not to mention, the pressure you took off of Phylis. Also “Thanks” to everyone for attending the food wagon and selling Raffle tickets. To Phylis, a “Hardy Thanks” goes out to you for being the “Project Chairperson” for the food wagon and raffle.

Winner of food wagon: Esther Eckhart, AtlanticBeach, Fl. Member of Gateway Sams.

Wednesday afternoon several members from our chapter joined in the Wizard competition and upon completion, Chris was awarded 2nd place & Paul was awarded 1st place. While I am announcingwinners it seams that Lake Eola Chapter did pretty good in the “Winners Circle”. Kay, Blue Ribbon for her Quilt, Donna, Blue Ribbon for her KnittedAfghan. Playing “Bingo” Tuesday the winners were Phylis, Joann, & Bill Catron plus Bill also won the Jackpot. Thursday’s winners were Phylis & Debbie. Several other members presented their craft items for Judging in the Samboree Crafts Competition, but even though they did not win any recognition from the judges, in our eyes “All of them are Blue Ribbon Craftsperson’s”. Thursday playing Pinochle competition, Mildred won “First Place” and Paul won “Second Place”. I would say “We are All Good” while other would just say“We are Lucky”, but which ever you choose, it all boils down to “We are All Great”. Friday afternoon around 1 P.M. for a “Social Hour” Mildred served Mud Slides beverage and several others brought over finger food. Starting about 5 P.M. the chapter furnished Hot Dogs & Hamburgers and the ladies filled in with very delicious side dishes. After breakfast Saturday morning and starting about 9 A.M., Morris Durrance called the chapter meeting to Order, which lasted about one hour. Morris explained why he was Chairing the Chapter Meeting. Joe Weston, (our ASD) informed us about the Samboree scheduled for February at Palatka and what hadbeen done to improve the park. Saturday evening, the main restaurant of choice was The Old Crab Shack where almost everyone participated. During the evenings after dinner, several couples when to each others campers and played games.

Friday afternoon while we were all sitting around talking after dinner. Joe & Debbie Weston drove up in the golf cart to join us for dinner. Scott

Smithwick was sitting with his back to the golf cart with his skull cap with a fuzz ball attached to the top, lying on his left leg. Debbie was walking toward the table of food having to pass right behind Scott. As she walked past, Debbie glanced down and out of the corner of her eyes she saw the cap, and with the fuzz ball lying at his knee, she mistook it for a Dark Colored Poodle Dog. She immediately said “Oh! What a cute Puppy. Can I pet it?” Upon hearing that Scott picked up his cap and placed it on his head. And, “That” is when everyone started laughing. Then the teasing started, but I will say, from where I was sitting I could see his cap and had I not known it was his cap, I could have come to the same conclusion, but Debbie being a “Very Good Sport” to it in stride and even laughed a little herself. Thanks Debbie for being the “Great Sport and Friend” as you & Joe are to all of us.
