The ELEA National Board of Directors has one vacancy for 3-year term running from July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2021. Applications by interested parties need to be submitted by

Vacancy for this term is:
- Pastoral Representative–an ELCA rostered leader serving in a congregation or institution that owns and operates a school or early childhood education center. Applicants may come from any area of the country, but preference given to applicants from the Southeast, Northeast or Western part of the US to provide geographic balance

Applicants will be screened by the National Board, and board members will be chosen with consideration given to a mix of elementary and early childhood representation on the board, geographic balance, a balance of gender and ethnicity, gifts, talents and abilities, references, and the guideline that at least ½ + 1 of the voting members of the board be
ELCA Lutherans employed by an ELCA congregation or school
or early childhood center.

ELEA National Board Pastoral Advisor
Job Description
1.Be knowledgeable about the Association’s mission, goals, Articles & By-Laws and policies, as well as current operations and issues;
2.Promote membership in ELEA;
3.Support and promote the mission and programs of ELEA. Officially promote and advocate for ELEA as appropriate, especially with ELCA and full communion partners;
4.Attend and participate in all on-site, phone and electronic meetings in a fully prepared manner;
5.Have access to, be familiar with, and regularly use electronic communication devices (i.e. e-mail/Internet); be prepared to do ongoing work electronically;
6.Provide spiritual leadership for the board, including but not limited to:
- Provide short devotions at the beginning of each meeting session;
- Raise issues of spiritual, moral and/or ethical concern as it relates to board actions;
- Lead the board in specific prayers as needed.
7.Be willing to make a personal financial contribution at a level that demonstrates commitment and sets a standard for others, and is willing to encourage support from others.
ELEA National Board members are volunteers;
there is no monetary remuneration for their time;
however, basic expenses related to board meeting attendance are covered
(i.e. airfare, ground transportation arranged by ELEA, lodging, meals, etc.)
