GreenMat Inc. is planning to construct a satellite plant to for testing of green construction materials. They have narrowed the proposed site to a small community near a large lake and several small towns. The company has hired your consulting company toaid in the final site selection given your esteemed reputation as a Civil Engineer with extensive GIS analysis experience and some magic powers. The site requirements include:
• Must reside on soils suitable for construction of buildings. (The value of the soil suitability must be 2 or 3)
• The site should not have trees (to reduce costs of clearing land). A regional agricultural preservation plan prohibits conversion of farmland. The other land uses (urban, barren, and wetlands) are also not options. The land cover must be “brush land” (LC_CODE = 300)
• A local ordinance designed to prevent rampant development allows new construction only within 500 feet of existing sewer lines and 2000 feet of roads.
• To provide space for building and grounds the site must be at least 1 acres in size.
You are tasked to create a map that indicates potential sites.
Create flowchart of steps first (yes, before you start ArcGIS)
Also, for the analysis, you should use a combination of SQL and geoprocessing techniques for your solution.
SUBMIT:
1. Map with title the potential sites. Show the site sizes in acres. Show the soil map (colored by suitability), roads, sewers and streams on the map. (Hint: choose your colors carefully!)
2. List team member names.
3. Include your flowchart.
