LAB USE

The Foreign Language Technology Center’s (FLTC) multimedia instructional computer labs are designed for instructional uses of technology. Priority is given to reservation requests which involve greater and more effective uses of the FLTC’s instructional technology resources. Computer lab facilities are not intended to serve as general purpose class/meeting rooms.

POLICIES

1.  Labs must be reserved in advance by use of this form, preferably before the beginning of the semester.

2.  Changes to scheduled reservations must be made in writing to Pamela Saenz or a new lab reservation form must be completed.

3.  Users are asked to observe opening and closing times. You may enter the room no earlier than your reserved time and you should be prepared to vacate at end of your reserved time. Any time that is needed for set up should be built into the reservation request.

4.  In the event a reservation has been made and is no longer needed, please notify the office (313-577-3022) as soon as possible.

5.  Occasionally, change of a reserved room may be required. In the event of a room change, every effort is made to facilitate the change with the least amount of disruption to all.

6.  Labs may be reserved by CMLLC and ELI faculty and staff, and others with director approval.

7.  Instructors must be present during the use of the labs—FLTC staff will not monitor students.

8.  Generally, labs may be reserved for use during customary hours of operation:

a.  Fall and Winter Semesters: M-Th. 8:30 a.m.-8:00 p.m. and F 8:30 a.m-5:00 p.m.

b.  Spring/Summer hours: M-F 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

(For inquiries about other dates and times, contact Pamela Saenz. There will be charges associated with such use.)

9.  Absolutely no food or drink is allowed in the labs.

10.  Labs are equipped with A-V projection systems at the instructor stations. Additional services must be requested under special needs on the reservation form.

11.  If you need specific software to be installed, you must contact the FLTC in advance, preferably before the beginning of the semester.

12.  It is recommended that instructors become familiar with lab technology and equipment prior to use.

13.  Altering or removing cables from any part of the lab instructor station is strictly prohibited.

14.  Any equipment or furniture moved from the original computer stations must be returned at the conclusion of the session.

15.  The lab workstations must not be used for viewing or printing inappropriate material.

16.  A printer is available for printed copies from all labs. The charge is 10 cents per page, payable by OneCard. Instructors should remind students to bring their OneCards if printed copies are required. The printer is housed in lab room 308, and printed items may be retrieved from room 308.
