5 / Demonstrate overall cardiovascular and muscular fitness / Means:Pre and post test 2 mile run(timed). Pre and post test bench press(100 lbs.) and squat(150 lbs) @ 1 min. timed max reps. Criteria:85% of the athletes will improve 2 mile time by 1 min. and 85% of the athletes will improve # of reps by 20% / Fall 2012: 36 athletes participated and 100% of the athletes improved 2 mile time by 1 min. 100% of the athletes increased their reps in bench press and squats by 20%. / We will use a baseline time to qualify for two mile run a
@ 14 min 30 seconds. We will keep muscular endurance at current weight requirements.
1 / Understand the general rules of baseball as governed under NCAA Div.1 / Means: The athletes will be tested on the updated rules of the NCAA Div.1 rulebook utilizing a 50 question written exam. Criteria: 100% correct by all athletes / Fall 2012: 36 athletes tested and all athletes received 100% / We will change 15 questions every year. We will continue to demonstrate 2 rules during every practice session.
5 / Explain technique and execute the 5 types of bunt skills utilizing correct barrel angles. / Means: Oral reports and execution drills on the 5 types of bunt skills w/ correct barrel angles. Criteria:100% of the athletes will be able to explain the techniques. 100% of the athletes will be able to execute 80% of the bunt drills / Fall 2012: 36 athletes participated. 100% explained the technique of bunt skill and barrel angles. 94% of the athletes executed 80% of the bunts. / The team will continue to practice at least 3 bunt skills every day at practice.
5 / Develop the proper throwing mechanics of a baseball. / Means:Pre and post test every player throwing a baseball 90’ at a 7’x7’ stationary target(10x’s)Criteria: 90% of the athletes will hit the target 100% of the time. / Fall 2012: 36 athletes participated. 94% of the athletes scored 100% / We will add 4 additional throws @ 100’ and 4 additional throws at 120’.

5 / 1. Demonstrate overall physical fitness in baseball. / Means: Pre-post test. Each student will perform a running and hand-hitting exercise at the beginning and end of class.
Criteria: at least 70% of students will show improvement at the end of class as determined by a Department standard. / More than 70% of students showed improvement at post test compared to the pre-test. / The activity seemed to reasonably assess students’ overall fitness.
5 / 2. Demonstrate knowledge of the skills and techniques necessary for safe play in college level competition in baseball. / Means: Individual oral report describing and demonstrating knowledge related to college level competition in baseball.
Criteria: at least 70% of students will perform satisfactorily according to a Department standard. / More than 75% of the students registered in this class successfully completed the oral report. / This activity maybe substituted by a quiz in the next assessment cycle.
4 / 3. Describe, demonstrate, and apply the rules of baseball. / Means: Individual oral report Criteria: 70% of students will show satisfactory performance according to a Department standard. / A little less than 70% of students were able to accurately demonstrate the rules of baseball. / Students needed more time to study the rules of baseball. This activity may be substituted for a quiz in the next assessment cycle.
4. Demonstrate knowledge and apply skills and techniques required for participation in baseball. / Means: simulation group activity demonstrating and applying sportsmanship and team spirit, on a college level of competition.
Criteria: 70% of students will show satisfactory performance according to a Department standard. / 70 % of students demonstrated sportsmanship and team spirit in competition. / Students must learn to translate good practice habits into team success.
