La Cocina Mía

For this project you will create a video of a cooking show in which you will demonstrate your knowledge of informal commands and ingredients found in typical Hispanic dishes (or as approved by the instructor). You can work alone or in a group with a MAXIMUM of 3 people.

You should:

____ 1. have a title for your show

____ 2. have introductions of the stars of your show (Hello, my name is ….)

____ 3. tell what dish you are going to prepare and what country it’s from

____ 4. show and tell what your ingredients are

____ 5. prepare your dish from a SPANISH SPEAKING COUNTRY (approved by

the instructor) using informal commands..

____ 6. include some negative commands (at least 3)

____ 7. include “banter” with your partner and/or your audience

____ 8. include 3 uses of pronouns with commands (“wash them…”.)

____ 9. include a short commercial during your show

____ 10. You can use note cards but don’t sound like you are reading your script.

____ 11. turn in your video on a flash drive, youtube, or share it via google (make sure it can be played on a pc)

____ 12. turn in a written script (typed)

Grading:

50% Cooking instructions – you use correct grammar & vocabulary. The commands are correctly used & you are easily understandable. You include at least 3 negative commands. Someone would be able to make the dish from your instructions. There is some banter with the audience or with your partner.

20% Presentation – your video is well-edited & interesting. You are not obviously reading.

10% You turn in a TYPED script of your lines.

10% Commercial – your video includes a short commercial

10% You bring in your homemade dish to share with the class on the day you present your video.

Alternate assignment:

If you are unable to create a video, you may do a powerpoint or Google Slide presentation that shows all the steps in creating the dish. You can type the DETAILED steps of the recipe on each slide. A person should be able to make the recipe from your PPT. It should fulfill the same requierements as the oral presentation, including a short commercial. If you choose to do this version, it is INDIVIDUAL and the highest grade that you can get would be an 80. You CAN get extra credit for turning it in early.
