Greetings.

I am a web content manager, training specialist, desktop support administrator, and creator of instructional materials at LSA Web Services. We manage over 100 University department websites utilizing the Adobe Experience Manager content management system, and over 300 LSA-branded faculty and lab Wordpress sites.

I am trained as an instructor for adult learners and I have nearly twenty years’ experience designing and implementing instructional materials in a range of subjects.

Over the past year I have assumed the duties of our departing Instructional Designer, transforming our unit's outdated printed training materials into online modules in Canvas, and I have created new modules where I see need based on the user support labs which I coordinate and lead.

Our main training and support audience is departmental administrative staff, as well as a number of faculty and graduate students. I lead weekly training modules in which learners discover how to use the AEM software, how to improve the look of their sites with basic photoshop skills, and how to utilize the publications feature included in the software. More modules are planned. I hold twice-weekly user help labs during which website admin staff from departments we serve may receive one-on-one assistance in AEM and Wordpress.

I am my own principal Subject Matter Expert for AEM. Our unit also comprises three web developers, a communications and analytics specialist, a quality assurance specialist, and our Wordpress sites’ principal web designer, with whom I consult when I need additional insight.

My six years at Web Services have been great experience, but it is time for me to take the next logical step in my career by taking on a new role that better suits my training and skills, so I am applying for the Instructional Designer position in your unit at ORSP. I am confident that I would be an excellent addition to your team and I look forward to speaking with you. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Kristin Sumrall
