To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to nominate Mr. Jeffrey Bartlett for Work Kamper of the Year in 2017. I hired Jeff through the KOA Work Kamper program for this past season. He has worked at the Allentown KOA campground during the entire 2017 season (7 months). Jeff is the embodiment of the “Make it Great” principle. His work ethic is probably his greatest asset. Although he signed a contract that requires him to work 30 hours per week, he has always volunteered his services far beyond those work hours. Whenever he sees an issue, he jumps in to resolve the issue, regardless of whether he is on duty or not. For example, during the heat of the summer, we had an air conditioner in one of our deluxe cabins stop working. Jeff went out and bought an air conditioner that night and helped me install it. These sorts of efforts have proved to be routine for Jeff, although I have never before had a work kamper who was willing, on a regular basis, to work outside of his or her scheduled work hours.

In addition to being a hard worker, Jeff Bartlett has a very pleasant demeanor. We often receive compliments about his willingness to help campers. He always escorts campers to their sites, and often spend a great deal of time with particularly the inexperienced campers making sure they are set up with all the amenities that they need. We have never had a complaint about Jeff, even from very difficult campers. He is very adept at dealing with difficult situations – more so than any other work kamper who has worked at our campground.

Jeff has proven to be a valuable asset in emergency situations. For example, in one situation, we had a dumpster that was set on fire by burning embers from fire-pits. By the time anyone noticed the fire, it had gotten out of control. However, Jeff calmly stepped in and got the flames under control, limiting damage from the fire to the dumpster itself. No one was hurt, and Jeff is mainly responsible for that fact.

When Jeff arrived on the campground, he quickly learned the campground routines. After a few weeks, he did not need any supervision at all. He always knew what needed to be done on a daily basis and he simply went out and did the work that needed to be done. Jeff also worked very well with other workers. He clearly understands how to work with teams and is very easy to work with.

Jeff is an excellent handyman. He can effectively and efficiently work with landscaping, electrical, plumbing and carpentry tools. He has installed new light fixtures in all of our cabins (12 total). He has restored our gravel roads on many occasions after rain storms. He has repaired doorways, toilets and air conditioners in many of our cabins. In short, he has been responsible for making our campground look and function great throughout the 2017 season.

In my view, Jeffrey Bartlett is the ideal work kamper. He works tirelessly to put smiles on the faces of the campers, which is ultimately what the camping business is about – making people happy. Please let me know if you should need any other information that might be needed to support the nomination of Mr. Jeffrey Bartlett for the Work Kamper of the Year award in 2017.

Sincerely,

James E. Mackin, Owner
