On Jordan's Stormy Banks I Stand

Words by Samuel Stennett, 1787, Music by Christopher Miner, 1997

On Jordan’s stormy banks I stand,

And cast a wishful eye

To Canaan’s fair and happy land,

Where my possessions lie.

All o’er those wide extended plains,

Shines one eternal day;

There God the Son forever reigns,

And scatters night away.

(Chorus)

I am bound (I am bound)

I am bound (I am bound)

I am bound for the promised land,

I am bound (I am bound)

I am bound (I am bound)

I am bound for the promised land.

No chilling winds nor poisonous breath

Can reach that healthful shore;

Sickness, sorrow, pain and death,

Are felt and feared no more.

(Chorus)

When shall I reach that happy place,

And be forever blessed?

When shall I see my Father’s face,

And in His bosom rest?

(Chorus) 2x

Welcome and Announcements

Meditation Psalm 131

Lord, my heart is not proud; my eyes are not haughty.

I don’t concern myself with matters too great or too awesome
for me to grasp.

Instead, I have calmed and quieted myself, like a weaned child
who no longer cries for its mother’s milk.

Yes, like a weaned child is my soul within me.

O Israel, put your hope in the Lord—now and always.

Call to WorshipPsalm 34:1-3

Leader: I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

People: My soul makes its boast in the LORD; let the humble hear
and be glad.

ALL:Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt
His name together!

Everlasting God

Music and Lyrics by Brenton Brown, 2005

Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord,

We will wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord (Repeat)

(Chorus)

Our God, You reign forever

Our hope, our strong deliverer

You are the everlasting God, the everlasting God

You do not faint, You won't grow weary

You're the defender of the weak

You comfort those in need

You lift us up on wings like eagles

(Chorus)

Be Thou My Vision

Words: Ancient Irish Hymn, Music: Traditional Irish Melody

Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, and I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Riches I heed not, nor man's empty praise,
Thou mine inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High king of heaven, my treasure Thou art.

High king of heaven, my victory won,
May I reach heaven's joys, O bright heaven's sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my vision, O Ruler of All.

Responsive ReadingPsalm 34:4-18

Leader:I sought the Lord, and He answered me and delivered me from all my fears.

People:Those who look to Him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.

Leader:This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles.

People: The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and delivers them.

Leader: Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!

People: Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints, for those who fear Him have no lack!

Leader: The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

People: Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

Leader: What man is there who desires life and loves many days, that he may see good?

People:Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking
deceit.

Leader: Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

People: The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous and His ears toward their cry.

Leader: The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth.

People: When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.

ALL:The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves
the crushed in spirit.

Prayer of Confession

Assurance of Pardoning GracePsalm 34:22

The LORD redeems the life of His servants; none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned.

Song of Assurance

Jesus Is Our Great Salvation

Words by John Adams, 1751-1835, Music by Clint Wells, 2004

Jesus is our great salvation,

Worthy of our best esteem;

He has saved His favorite nation;

Join to sing aloud of Him.

He has saved us!

Christ alone could us redeem (2x)

When involved in sin and ruin,

And no helper there was found,

Jesus our distress was viewing;

Grace did more than sin abound.

He has called us,

With salvation in the sound. (2x)

Let us never Lord forget Thee;

Make us walk as children here.

We will give Thee all the glory

Of the love that brought us near.

Bid us praise Thee,

And rejoice with holy fear. (2x)

Free election known by calling, is a privilege divine;

Saints are kept from final falling;

All the glory Lord is Thine!

All the glory, all the glory, Lord is Thine! (2x)

Draw My Soul to Thee

Words by Adams, 1838; Music by Robert Turner, 2009

Draw my soul to thee my Lord,

Make me love thy precious word

Bid me seek thy smiling face,

Willing to be saved grace

(Chorus)

Dearest Jesus bid me come,

Let me find thyself my home

Thou the refuge of my soul,

Where I may my troubles roll

Lord thy powerful work begun,

Thou wilt never leave undone

Teach me to confide in Thee,

Thy salvation’s wholly free

(Chorus)

Song of Response

For All the Saints

Words by William How; Music by Christopher Miner, 1997

For all the saints, who from their labors rest,

Who Thee by faith before the world confessed,

Thy Name, O Jesus, be forever blessed.

Alleluia, Allelu...

Thou wast their rock, their fortress and their might;

Thou, Lord, their captain in the well fought fight;

Thou, in the darkness drear, their one true Light.

Alleluia, Allelu...

O may Thy soldiers, faithful, true and bold,

Fight as the saints who nobly fought of old,

And win with them the victor’s crown of gold.

Alleluia, Allelu...

The golden evening brightens in the west;

Soon, soon to faithful warriors comes their rest;

Sweet is the calm of paradise the blessed.

Alleluia, Allelu...

But lo! There breaks a yet more glorious day;

The saints triumphant rise in bright array;

The King of glory passes on His way,

Alleluia, Allelu...

From earth's wide bounds, from ocean's farthest coast,

Through gates of pearl streams in the countless host,

Singing to Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,

Alleluia, Alleluia!

Benediction
