Volunteer Application Form:

Cycle Support Volunteers for Inclusive Cycling Projects

Are you an experienced and enthusiastic cyclist? Do you enjoy supporting others?

We are looking for friendly, confident cyclists to join our team of group ride volunteers, supporting our mental well-being and Over 55s cycling projects in the Bristol area.

Bike Minded, funded by Henry Smith charity and BUPA and is our project to make cycling and getting out into nature more accessible to people affected by mental health issues.

The Over 55s group supported by and Bristol City Council and Dunhill Medical Trust runs group rides for the Over 55s in and around Bristol.

We are particularly keen to hear from new volunteers in the East Central and South of Bristol in the Hartcliffe area to help with some additional rides and taster days we will be running there to try and engage with these communities.

Both groups put on group cycle rides for varying abilities- from gentle Beginner rides of a few miles to more challenging rides of up to 35 miles. Rides take place on weekdays and weekends and are friendly and sociable.

The rides start from either our offices at the Create Centre or from other locations across the city, and are led by one of our qualified and experienced cycle instructors.

As a volunteer your role is:

  • to be a friendly, supportive and an encouraging presence on the rides, helping participants feel comfortable and at ease in the group
  • helping to motivate and encourage new and returning cyclists by sharing your enthusiasm for cycling.
  • You will also support the ride leader in managing ensuring the safety of the group and helping to keep the group together out on the ride.
  • We are also keen to hear from people who may be able to help support occasional taster days, help refurbish bikes for new participants and assist with fundraising activities to support the project.
