2017 Membership Dues Request and Newsletter

Dear Kipps Run Swim Club Members!

Saturday of Memorial Day weekend is our goal for opening day. We have the normal cleaning and maintenance activities to complete before that time. The cracks in the bottom of the pool have finally been fixed! This work was completed last year in September. We can’t wait for all of you to see it this year!

Work days will be every Saturday from April 29th through May 20th beginning at 9 am. Weekday evening work dates will be added as needed depending on weather. Please plan to help for at least 4 hours to eliminate your $40 maintenance fee. Remember to check our Facebook page for updated information on Kipps work dates, special events, applications and more.

Bond Membership dues will remain the same as last year, $275.00. Please submit your dues payment by May 10th. Oliver Kelly, Treasurer, will accept dues paid in 3 installments of $95 each, payable by May 10th, June 1st, and July 1st. If you will not be participating in the work days, your installment payments would then be in the amount of $110.00 each. You may reach Oliver at or 570-854-0229. Bond transfers are permitted if you know of someone who would like to join the club in your place. We again offer a one-time Summer Membership at the cost of $300, to allow one to “try out” Kipps Run. For insurance reasons, Summer Members must swim only during guarded hours. Again, there will be a $50 dues discount/refund for any member who signs up a new bond member. Please Note: Guest fees are now $4.00. There will be no capped family charge this year as in the past. Each guest is $4. This money is to be placed in the box by the pool phone inside the entrance door.

When arriving at the pool, please register with the lifeguard. Bond members’ children may swim at Kipps without the bondholder present only during guard hours, and if they have: 1) passed the swim test, 2) are 10 years or older, and 3) if the parent/bondholder or guardian comes inside and registers the children with the lifeguard each day. Parents, please leave a note with a cell or emergency phone # if it differs from the number we have on file. For safety’s sake the guard has to know who the children are. Please remember, youth 17 years and under are not allowed at the pool after lifeguard hours without being accompanied by an adult member.

Please remember to schedule all parties with the Pool Manager, at least 2 weeks in advance to ensure adequate guard coverage, and prevent usage conflicts. Please make checks for guard hours to Kipps Run, payable before or on the day of the party. Guards will be reimbursed for party hours in their paychecks.

Employment Opportunities for lifeguards are available at Kipps Run. We encourage applications from our members and hire the most qualified applicants available. Lifeguards should be at least 16 years old, (15 if parents are bondholders), and have their ARC Lifeguard Certification and First Aid CPR. As you can see below, there are open board positions. We could use more help on the board if you are interested. We meet once a month during the summer and once or twice pre-season to get things up and running. Please feel free to contact any Board member with questions or concerns, or to volunteer for any activity. Think summer!
