Instruction Booklet

All users of the Village Hall should check this booklet before using the hall. If you are unsure about the use of any equipment, please check the appropriate page in this booklet before use.

Heating System - Main Hall

Before turning on heating system, ensure air inlet at back of hall is not obscured by curtains.

Turn heating switch (just outside kitchen door) to position 1

Set thermostat (between stage door and main hall door) appropriately (max 20o C)

If there is to be a large number of people in the hall, heating is normally only needed for initial warming. Once the hall reaches a comfortable temperature, the heating can normally be turned off.

At completion of hire, ensure heating system is turned off (switch moved to position 2)

Heating System-Committee Room

Turn on heaters using switches beside each heater

If there is to be a large number of people in the committee room, heating is normally only needed for initial warming. Once the room reaches a comfortable temperature, the heating can normally be turned off

Thermostat beside door has been set to a temperature of 20o C. This should not be adjusted. If the room gets too hot, turn off the heaters.

At completion of hire, ensure both heaters have been turned off

Tables and Seating

The main hall is provided with 10 large (8 seat) tables, and 5 small 6 seat) tables. The use of all tables allows for the seating of up to 110 people.

The crockery cupboard has been stocked with 120 place settings.

Normally at least four tables will be left for immediate use in the main hall. Additional tables are stored in the store room.

The main hall has 160 chairs available for general use. These are stacked at various locations around the hall, on the stage and in the storeroom.

At the completion of hire, all tables and chairs should be returned to their original locations.

Main Hall Lighting

The main hall has fixed fluorescent lights and dimmed downlighters.

Fixed fluorescent lights are controlled by standard switches, front four from a switch next to main door, two at rear from a switch near the rear door (kitchen side).

The dimmed downlighters are controlled by push switches near the main door, next to the first fluorescent switch.

Use a quick push to toggle on and off.

Hold and release to dim or brighten.

Sound System

A key must be obtained specifically for the sound system. The system can be found at the rear of the store room on the stage side.

The sound system includes one throat microphone, xxx cabled microphone(s) and two wall speakers either side and forward from the stage. A sound loop system is also available for the hard of hearing.

Users must ensure that they remain behind the wall speakers to reduce the possibility of microphony.

The unit only provides for microphone input.

Using Sound System.

  1. Check 13A plug outside cabinet on wall is plugged in and on.
  2. Press ‘on’ switches for all 3 units in cabinet.
  3. Connect hand microphone into plugs on front of stage.
  4. Radio microphone.

Battery: PP3 9volt. Normally removed from unit to prevent discharge. If unsure of condition of battery bring spare.

Switch on: Press small red plunger.

Mute: When not speaking slide mute to off.

  1. Testing: Volume adjusted by altering labelled rotary switches in bottom unit in cabinet. If volume is set too high or lecturer stands in front of loudspeakers in the hall you will get feedback.
  2. When finished remove battery from radio microphone and make sure all switches are ‘off’.
