Mission and vision:

Kids - Zone Kleuterakademie was established with the purpose to care for, nurture and educate each child entrusted to us with love and passion so that he/she, as children of the Lord, will grow with the firm knowledge that he/she is capable of achieving their goals. We aspire to mould children into being leaders who believe in themselves and pursue the best at all times. Our children are our most precious possessions, therefore as a school we thrive to be the extension of the home to provide each child with the best care, stimulation and education.

Staff members:

A ratio of 1:15 is strictly maintained so that the maximum amount of attention can be given to each child. All staff members are qualified and or experienced. All staff members will be expected to attend courses and workshops to stay abreast of the newest and latest research / developments. Furthermore it will also be expected of each staff member to give in a full medical report to ensure that no infectious diseases or illnesses can be transmitted to the children, this will take place on an annual basis.

An assistant will be allocated to each staff member. Staff members and assistants will sign employment contracts in which the rules and regulations are clearly set out. There will be meetings with staff members and assistants on a regular basis so that the curriculum and other matters can be fully discussed.

Baby care facilities:

We provide a safe sleeping area, a cot or mattress as well as a sheet and blanket for every baby. Baby food and milk are put into the refrigerator for preservation. All equipment, toys, bottles and utensils that the baby comes in contact with, is sterilized.

We believe in a peaceful and stimulating environment for each baby and therefore music forms an integral part of our baby section. When the babies are awake they are given individual attention and soft toys are at their disposal.

Stimulation program for the babies: Practica

Intellectual development, Curiosity, Play, Sense of self, Sensory perception, Emotional development, Physical development, Independence, Hand skills, Eye-hand co-ordination,
Social development, Listening skills, Language comprehension, Speech development, Communication

Each parent provides the following for their babies on a daily basis:

1)  Baby’s bottles for the day ( all bottles to be clearly marked )

2)  Bum cream as preferred by each parent

3)  Every month a packet of wet wipes

4)  Disposable nappies for use during the day (minimum of 5)

5)  A dummy for if the baby asks for it

6)  Medication if baby is sick. (Parents must write it down in the register before leaving the premises)

7)  Extra clothes for if needed

Infant and Toddler care facilities:

Each group is given a safe, clean classroom which is equipped with educational apparatus and learning programs suitable for the age of the infant/ toddler. The curriculum is based on a theme system.

The following learning areas are addressed as prescribed by the Education Department:

= Life Skills (gross motor, auditory perception, language development, music, art)

= Literacy (fine motor, visual perception, body concept)

= Numeracy (mathematical concepts, position in space, measuring)

There is also an additional area where puppets, baking, music, and art can be practised.

Kids – Zone Kleuterakademie provides the following for every child:

=A plastic cup

=Safe eating utensils

=A sponge mattress with a plastic cover on

=A sheet

=A blanket

Each of the above mentioned items are clearly marked so that it is only used by one child.

The parents are responsible for the following:

·  Stationery (The Teacher will let you know)

·  Tissues / Wet wipes

·  A progress book

The following daily program for the 2 – 6 year old group is as follows:

·  6:30 – 8:00 Arrival and free play ( Under supervision )

·  8:00 – 8:30 Breakfast

·  8:30 – 9:00 Register, Scripture reading and prayer

·  9:00 – 9:15 Toilet routine

·  9:15 – 10:00 Educational activities

·  10:00 – 10:30 Morning snack

·  10:30 – 11:00 Creative activities

·  11:00 – 11:15 Toilet routine

·  11:15 – 12:00 Outside play ( Under supervision )

·  12:00 - 13:00 Lunch

·  13:00 – 15:00 Rest and relaxation

·  15:00 – 15:30 Toilet routine and clean up

·  15:30 – 16:30 Light meal / Afternoon snack

·  16:30 – 18:00 Free play ( Under supervision )

We follow a balanced eating plan. The meals are prepared in our own kitchen and menus are available upon parent’s request. Parents must notify the principal of the school as well as the staff members if their child is allergic to certain products and foods, so that alternatives can be arranged.

Example of menu:

Breakfast: (8:00)

Mieliepap.

Morning snack: (10:00)

Fruit, yoghurt, cheese blocks, biscuits.

Lunch: (12:00)

Chicken and corn soup, spaghetti bolognaise, fish and chips, curry and rice, chicken / beef with vegetables, macaroni and cheese, chicken pie, beef pie, cold drink.

Afternoon snack: (15:30)

Muffin, sandwich with filling, vetkoek, scones, boerewors roll, pancakes, fruit juice.

Playground:

A child-friendly, spacious area serves as a playground where improvements have been made to create opportunities where the toddlers play experience turns into a learning opportunity.

Our Playground offers the children the following:

=A grass area

=A jungle gym

=A sandpit with clean sand that has been treated and gets covered

=Apparatus to encourage the different sports such as rugby, cricket, golf, tennis, netball and softball

(Ball skills are included in the curriculum at no extra costs)

Communication with parents:

Communication with parents will mainly be by letter and if the situation warrants it, parents will be contacted telephonically. After each term parents will receive a progress report. There will also be an opportunity for every parent to talk with the teacher personally about their child’s progress. Parents are welcome at any time to contact the principal to discuss any concerns.

Safety and Security:

Management and staff of Kids – Zone Kleuterakademie considers every child as their parents most precious possession therefore the greatest care in respect of safety in all areas has been considered. Our premises are secure and an intercom system is used to grant access to the premises. Only parents will be allowed to fetch their children, if anyone else should have to pick up or drop off a child, prior arrangements must be made with the principal by the parents beforehand. The school will in such a case insist on identification of such person.

In a case where a court order is issued for any person or persons prohibiting them to visit or transport, a baby or toddler, the head of registration of such a child of the court must be informed and a copy of such order be given to the Academy.

Fees and banking details:

Registration fees are as follows:

=R600 per baby/toddler with registration

=Full day fee: R1750-00 per month (payable for 12 months)

=Half day fee: R1500-00 (payable for 12 months)

=Day visitors: R150-00 per child per day

At the end of each year you need to re-register your child by filling in a registration form and paying the applicable fee. School fees are reviewed as of January every year. School fees are payable in advance and must be paid to the school on or before the 5th of each month. If school fees are not paid by the 5th of the month, the principal has the right to refuse a child until all outstanding fees have been paid.

Your child’s name/code is used as a reference. All internet payments must be followed up with a proof of payment which is faxed, emailed or delivered by hand to the school.

General information:

School hours are from: 06:30 – 18:00 (Promptly) Monday to Friday, half day is until 13:00. A fine of R150 per half an hour will be charged for half day children that are collected after 13:00 or for full-day children who are collected after 18:00.

Kids – Zone Kleuterakademie will be open right through the year except on public holidays and 3 to 4 weeks in December / January. Parents will be informed by letter of these arrangements in advance.

We have a sick room available for those times when children are not feeling well. Parents will be notified immediately when a child has be taken to the sick room. Parents who send medication to school must upon arrival record it in the register, the responsible staff member for that child at school will administer the medication according to the prescription.

According to law, Kids – Zone Kleuterakademie has the right to not accommodate children with infectious diseases or illnesses for the whole period that the disease or illness is transferable and thereafter a doctor’s letter is required stating that the disease or illness isn’t transferable anymore.
