Herbal Identification and Botanical Sketching with Shawn Dell Joyce, Follow in the Footsteps of Jane Colden, and learn about Coldenham’s founding family, and America’s first female botanist; Jane Colden, who at 13, identified indigenous plants in our region. Children will learn to identify and draw at least 10 indigenous plants, and keep a sketchbook with botanical notes and illustrations. Children will learn the basics of the Linnaeus system of plant identification, botanical drawing, and sketching. Field hikes(walking) every day and sketchbooks plus materials provided to take home. Your child gets to have pizza for lunch everyday! Plus hang out with a teen for the hour between the morning session of summer camp and the afternoon session ends. We supply drinks and pizza for $50/week per child. If your child is registered at a camp happening in our main building and at Benedict Park, transportation will be provided from the park to the building for the afternoon session with a licensed adult. If transportation is provided you must sign a waiver. If your child is not transported than a waiver is not necessary. Price:$50/week

Nerf Camp! - with Ronan, Phillip and Friends!Great camp for boys and tomboys! Children will learn to modify a Nerf gun (bring your own) to make it shoot farther, and paint it to fit your style, then play imaginative war games based on World War II, Zombie Infection Games, and Scavenger Hunt style games. Great camp to get the kids out of the house, and away from the video/t.v. Please note that this camp will take place at Benedict Park and will be held outdoors rain/shine with shelter. Phillip & Friends Excellent Adventure Camp

this is the most fun camp activities rolled into a dream week of summer camp! Peace Camp with Shawn Dell Joyce-Give PEACE A Chance! Work with artist/activist Shawn Dell Joyce and learn about the peace movement of the sixties and seventies. Children paint their own PEACE POLE with wishesfor world peace, and Tibetan Peace Flags with peace prayers that will fill the wind with peaceful wishes. Learn to tie-dye a t-shirt and make your own peace wear for World Peace Day in September. Children will be invited to display finished peace poles, and prayer flags for World Peace Day at Wallkill River School in September. Children take home and keep all finished projects. Open to ages 8-Adult. In the Garden with Mary Carmada!-Really fun class for children to learn how to grow fruits and vegetables in their very own private garden plot in our gardens! Mary willincorporate science and crafts into the gardening themebyreading books, and incorporate crafts with a garden theme. Mary Carmadais a child care specialist through home childcare, boy/girl scouts and being involved in Big brothers/Big sisters. Class is weekly on Weds. from 10-noon from July 6 – Aug. 10 (6 weeks) at Wallkill River School. Children will make a variety of crafts to bring home, and projects, as well as have their own plot to tend all summer! $150 all materials supplied!

July 6:Set up children’s garden plots, plant pole bean on bamboo trellis shaped into a teepee. Plant carrot seeds in cut off soda bottle. We will plant the bottle in the ground so it can be pulled up to see the carrots progress as it grows. Children will begrowing a variety of plants tomatoes, cucumbers, marigolds, lettuce and herbs. Send children home with containers to fill with table scraps for Compose binto make compost for theirorganic garden plots.

July 13:Composting. Talk about how to recycle to make dirt. Paint a recycle bin for the garden. Weed and place newspaper mulch around plants in vegetable garden. Send children home with bean growing in a clear plastic cup to see how it grows.


July 20:Paint little tin can bugs to decorate the garden. Talk about good bugs and bad bugs and what to do about them in the garden. Scavengerhunt, take a walk and spot things in nature.

July 27:String growing vines onto Teepee. Make fairy garden in little bins.

Aug. 4:Check garden to see how plants are growing make bird houses.

Aug. 11:Rainbow snake bubbles made with water bottle, old sock, food dye and water. Blow through bottle to make bubbles. Make snakes usingtubing and colorful duct tape.
