Directors’ Note

The Wave is a re-enactment of a 1967 social experiment conducted by teacher Ron Jones. His students' disbelief of the Nazi regime inspired Jones to create an experiment that would teach his students of the inhumanity of mankind. With the help our brilliant assistant director and editor Victoria Beales, we’ve now adapted his story into an original stage drama. Directing The Wave has been a truly incredible experience. As senior students, we wanted to create a production that not only would challenge our actors but would raise issues that we deem important and lessons that are crucial in the society we live in.

Along with the show’s intense and controversial subject matter, we incorporated symbolic references, intricate media usage and many dramatic elements that are rarely seen in modern theater. The talented students you will see tonight have been incredible to work with and were constantly supportive of The Wave and its message throughout our months of rehearsal. We would like to extend our thanks to Ms. Wood who enabled us to experience this project and was a great wealth of information, help and advice.

We hope you enjoy The Wave as much as we have.

Thank you,
