Thin-tipped permanent marker
Flipper template
TIME: / 12-15 MINUTES / COST PER PROJECT: / $0.27

KIDS SAY: “I liked this a lot.” “It’s fun to play with this.”

OBSERVATIONS & SUGGESTIONS:

  • The glue dots didn’t work well on the pebbles. It was hard to get them to stick to the curved surface of the egg. I think this should be a preparation step the leaders do with hot glue.
  • The kids need to write on the egg before they glue the flippers.
  • It’s hard to see the eyes through the bottle cap. Maybe we could glue the eyes inside the lid-touching the inside surface- instead of to the egg.

OBSERVATIONS & SUGGESTIONS:

  • You will need to limit the time the kids have for coloring to allow time to attach the straws and cords. Ours wanted to color longer.
  • The younger children needed help tying the cord to the stick.

OBSERVATIONS & SUGGESTIONS:

  • Use a can opener that does not leave sharp edges.
  • Have the kids write on the duct tape before they put it on the can.
  • There is not a lot for the kids to do. You will definitely need to have them decorate the can.
  • Maybe the verse could be underwater and the kids could use their viewers to find it.

KIDS SAY: “I like this a lot." "This is pretty." "I'll give it to my Mom."

OBSERVATIONS & SUGGESTIONS:

  • The magnet strips are too wide. A round magnet will not show from the front, but should probably be glued on by the leader during preparation.

KIDS SAY: “Way too easy and plain." "I wish the arrow could move."

OBSERVATIONS & SUGGESTIONS:

  • There is not enough for the kids to do.
  • Be sure to glue the bead so that the cord goes through left to right instead of front & back.
  • I think the real compass to glue inside the cap would really help the kids like this better. One of our kids said he wished the compass would work. I think you could get them for 8-10 cents each.

OBSERVATIONS & SUGGESTIONS:

  • It was hard to cut the cardboard rings. We also tried skimmer rings- they are a little smaller, but worked well and didn't have to be cut.
