REQUESTOR, PLEASE UNDERSTAND THE FOLLOWING:

1. Although all efforts for the band to appear will be made, the needs of the Army may regretfully cause a last minute cancellation.

2. Requests for the band should be received 120+ days prior to the scheduled event.

3. In accordance with Army Regulation 220-90, the band is PROHIBITED from participating in events that:

a. Would selectively benefit or appear to benefit any person, group, or corporation. This applies to all affiliations (profit, non-profit, religious, selection, quasi-religious, ideological, fraternal, political, or commercial).

b. Are clearly and primarily designed to stimulate sales or increase commercial business. Sponsorship of an event by a commercial enterprise does not automatically prevent Army Band participation. Support may be provided to an event sponsored by a commercial enterprise when:

1) the support is patriotic in nature

2) the support is incidental to the program

3) the support does not selectively benefit the commercial activity of the sponsor

4) the sponsor’s role is clearly civic

5) commercial interest is subordinate to the community interest and benefit in the program.

c. An event where the band’s performance is the primary attraction and an admission or other fee is imposed. Bands may be authorized to perform at some major commercial sports or civic events where attendees are charged for admittance. In such instances, participation is possible because there is very little probability that the band’s performance will increase the crowd’s size. Also, the event would occur without the band’s performance. Band participation would therefore be incidental to the event.

IN ALL CASES, THE 67TH ARMYBAND COMMANDER,

IN COORDINATION WITH 94TH TROOP COMMAND AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICE,WILL DETERMINE THE APPROPRIATENESS OF EACH COMMITMENT.
