Directions:This section asks you information about your performance/program and/or the workshop that you plan to present to the libraries in NH next summer. Applicants to the Roster do not have to offer a workshop in addition to the program/performance, although they may offer only a workshop if this type of event is more suited to their art. *Please note: If accepted to the Roster, presenters cannot raise their fees next summer from what they state on this application. Fees cannot be based on the size of the audience as libraries need to know the costs before booking the event.

Please write a program description below of no more than 200 words. You may also give your program a title. If you have material related to the construction theme of "Build a Better World” please indicate how it will be incorporated into your program/performance. I have also included a "sample program description" to give you an idea of the kind of description we need. Please note: If you are chosen for the 2017 Kids, Books and the Arts Roster, the program and workshop descriptions you submit will be edited for use in the Roster materials sent out to libraries.

Here's a sample description of a program from the underground theme.

Children from 2 to 92 will be singing along to songs about burrowing animals, digging machines, and archaeology in this highly interactive and spirited music program. Songs and stories include: "Greta the Groundhog," "Get your Backhoe and Dig" and "The Tunnel to Fun." Audience members will have the opportunity to do drumming, kazoo-playing and train-whistle blowing. Joe the Music Man adapts his material to the audience at hand, ensuring a lively, enjoyable experience for all audiences.

Workshop Description

Directions: If you are offering a workshop—either as your central program or as an addition to the performance—please write a separate description below of no more than 200 words after the words “Your Workshop Description.”If you have material related to the construction theme of "Build a Better World”please indicate how it will be incorporated into your workshop.

A workshop description should state the following: the activity proposed, the maximum number of participants, and any materials required or produced. If there is an additional charge for workshop materials, be sure to indicate that.

Here’s a sample workshop description prepared for the science theme:

Limited to no more than 25 children ages 6 and up, this workshop will help children understand the science of music. The presenter has several musical instruments that can be taken apart and studied by participants. Using common household objects supplied by the presenter, children will also create musical instruments that demonstrate varying pitches and different ways of playing.
