The Support Manager post can make a real difference to Members’ lives. KeyRing looks for a “can do” approach in line with the organisation’s values and emphasises a team work approach..
The Purpose of this role is to:
These are the things you will do to make this happen:
1.You will assist in the management of a team of support workers, participating in all aspects of people management, in order to support and develop them to achieve their agreed objectives.
2.You will support in the recruitment, induction, supervision and performance review of support workers, identifying training and development needs and making recommendations to ensure these are met through the annual training plan and fully meet our contractual requirements.
3.You will support in the recruitment, induction, review and evaluate Volunteers supporting people to get the most out of the role and fulfill the role to mutual benefit.
4.In conjunction with the Support Manager you will provide day to day management of services to ensure that the support delivered to Members is effective and meets required standards.
5.You will lead on the referral and assessment process, involving support staff as appropriate.
You will guide and encourage support workers to:
-Support Members to develop new skills and recognise and use their talents.
-Encourage mutual support to enable people to develop new skills and recognise and use their talents.
-Connect Members they support with others with whom they have shared interests and ideas
-Enable Members to achieve their personal outcomes for themselves or in the least controlling way wherever possible.
-Demonstrate respect for the rights of the Members they support, and for their decisions and choices.
-Support people to maintain important relationships, which may require support workers to intervene to help resolve conflicts.
-Promote and support Member Involvement activities as required.
-Encourage Members to value work, supporting them to find and maintain employment.
-Be culturally competent and promote people’s individuality, where necessary advocating on their behalf.
-Encourage and support Members to understand and use their rights, responsibilities and obligations as citizens
-Take appropriate action to ensure that people are protected and safeguarded from abuse.
-Assist people to access services and agencies necessary for their well being.
-Have a positive approach to risk, encouraging and assisting Members to overcome barriers and try new things in a safe and supportive way.
-Act in a professional manner, keeping good records, communicating effectively and sharing information as appropriate.
-Be an effective team member, co-operating with colleagues, volunteers and other people in the best interest of the people you are employed to support.
6.You will engage with Members both directly and indirectly (via support plans and reviews) on a regular basis to evaluate how the service is encouraging people to become self sufficient and take control in their lives.
7.You will deputise for the support manager in the liaison with external agencies (including Local Authority commissioners, contract managers and housing partners) in relation to service delivery and Member issues including Safeguarding.
8.You will support in the maintenance of efficient and effective records for the services.
9.You will support in handling and monitoring any complaints to ensure they are dealt with in an effective and timely way and that any improvements in the service are identified and implemented.
10.You will support in the prompt and accurate gathering of information both internally and externally (for example internally quarterly monitoring information. For example externally SP workbooks / returns)
11.You will support in the provision of information and prepare for internal and external quality reviews, (e.g Supporting People) making proposals for the action plans post reviews and their subsequent implementation after agreement.
12.You will support the manager to conduct, monitor and review health and safety practice in all aspects of the services, including risk assessments, to ensure full compliance with policy, procedure and statutory and contractual requirements.
13.You will participate in Local Authority fora as requested and as appropriate to ensure KeyRing is promoted as a provider of choice.
14.You will work flexibly to meet the operational needs of the services, which may include working days, evenings, weekends, bank holidays, covering a 24/7 rota and on-call duties
15.You will undertake development activities to ensure you achieve and remain fully competent within the role.
16.You will undertake any other duties consistent with the nature and purpose of this post as requested by the line manager.
