4. Matters Arising

Road Infrastructure/Parkway/KCC Discussion – PT looking at Joint Transportation Board

Mobile Monitor – Reconsider at end of month – CB could ask staff members who reside in Herne Bay.

HS to send out Airport Reports.

Visit Kent – CB understands that contracts for business did go out to tender but no announcement has been made yet.

Training Flights – CB stated that there is a standard training circuit – pilots have to also train non standard procedures / undertake unusual manoeuvres. This applies to private as well as commercial planes. Some training flights practice with only some of the airfield navigation aids and have to use a non standard approach. Larger Aircraft are better at keeping to the circuit. PT asked if ATC are aware of when these training flights are to take place. CB – a request comes in to train subject to weather and the Airport agrees time and procedures i.e 8 circuits, if something abnormal is to be practised during a circuit then ATC are made aware.

Concerns raised ref aircraft banking – CB requested that information (dates, times etc.) are forwarded to him to investigate.

Comment from Minster Parish Council regarding last minutes where it stated they object to Parkway – they do not object to Parkway in principle but do if Minster Railway Station would close.

5. Report from Airport Management

Attached herewith.

Questions in relation to the report:-

PT would like to know if the Airport will respond to the Airport Commission Report, KIACC needs to respond now with an additional point “KIACC do note that you have focused on a bigger solution and hope you will consider the role of smaller airports in the interim” – agreed.

The Committee discussed two airspace consultations that are being carried out – London Airspace and Southend Airspace. The impact of this phase of the London Airspace on Manston is negligible. If future phases will impact the airport CB will bring it to the Committee. The Southend consultation is about the airport seeking their own controlled airspace. It was agreed that PT would respond to the Southend Consultation. KCC have responded and will send PT a copy of what they submitted.

PT asked about the diversions to Manston when Heathrow had issues. CB stated that in mid December the fog over Heathrow reduced the flow rate and as a result diversions where made to Manston.

It was confirmed that there is to be no airshow this year.

7. Regular Environmental Update from TDC

To be made available at the next meeting.

Port Health update – in 6 months time.

Portable Monitor – locations considered – possible Minster first then Herne Bay. To be confirmed.

8. AOB

Agreed to arrange for airport visits for KIACC Committee.

Birchington Parish Council put in a request for more public meetings a year – PT Agreed to consider at the next meeting. Could Birchington put forward their issues of concern.

Next Meeting dates agreed:-
