Epsom Hockey Club - Mixed Seven-a-Side Tournament

  1. On arrival, team captains must report to tournament control.
  2. Each club may select from a squad of TEN players.
  3. Each team shall consist of SEVEN players, comprising three on-field men,three on-field ladies, and a fully kitted goalkeeper or helmeted kicking back of either sex. If any team short of players please fell free to ask around, I’m sure other teams will be more than happy to help!
  4. If short of players then a max of 4 men and 2 ladies allowed to play, but only if both captains agree before the game and let the umpires know.
  5. Rolling substitutes will be permitted at any time during the tournament.
  6. The first named team will have choice of ends.
  7. The second named team will start the match, and will change strip in the event of a colour clash.
  8. The tournament is divided into two groups, with the winners and runners-up ineach group competing in the Cup final.
  9. The duration of all games will be 20minutes one-way, with the Games starting and finishing on the sounding of Christmas Carols.
  10. Any team with less than FOUR players on the field at the start of a match will forfeit the game by a score of 0 - 2.
  11. All umpires will be provided by the organizers.
  12. In the group games, points will be awarded as follows:

a)Win3 Points

b)Score Draw2Points

c)Draw 1 Point

  1. A Santa’s Little helper card will be supplied to each team. Use of it will double the teams game points. The card can only be used once. The card must be handed to the umpire before the start of the game. Any points earned for the game will then be doubled.
  1. All teams must field a fully kitted Santa at all times. If at any time of the game one is not present a deduction of TWO points will take place.

As a minimum Santa must be wearing:

A red and white hat

A white beard

Red and white coat

Black shinny belt

  1. If all team members are attired in a Christmas fashion then they automatically earn 1 point. The Umpire will decide if teams are attired or not.
  2. Short corners must be struck by a female.
  3. Random Secret Santa gifting is encouraged
  4. Positions of the teams within the groups will be decided in the following order:

a)Points

b)Goals scored

c)Goals conceded

d)The result of the group match between the two teams

e)Best dressed Santa

f)The toss of a coin

  1. In the event of a semi-final ending in a draw, the result will depend on apenaltycompetition, as follows:

a)Three men and two ladies from each team to alternately take onepenalty shot.

b)Should the score still remain level, then the same players will continueto penalty shot, in the sameorder, on a sudden death basis.

  1. Should the final end in a draw then five minutes extra-time will be played. If the scores still remain level, then penalty shots as per (19) will decide the winner
  2. In the event of a dispute, the tournament organiser's decision is final.
