Kellogg College Community Engagement and Academic Merit Awards

Notes for Guidance
All Kellogg College students are able to be considered for a Kellogg College Community Engagement and Academic Merit Award. These awards are given to students with a demonstrated commitment to community engagement and academic excellence. Examples of community engagement include, but are not restricted to, disseminating research to the public such as in schools, a research-related blog with proven interest in its content, developing new applications, and engaging with wider media such as through an exhibition or use of social media.
Successful recipients of a Kellogg College Community Engagement and Academic Merit Award will receive £250 in recognition of their achievements. Students may nominate themselves or be nominated by their Department, or be nominated by another Kellogg student. All applications must include a short reference from the student’s Supervisor or Course Director. Please include links to, or copies of, news articles, publications or web links that might assist the Award Panel.
All programmes of study with students at Kellogg College are invited to participate in this new initiative and additional awards are reserved for students on programmes with large numbers of students at Kellogg College in recognition of the relationship between Kellogg College and departments.
To make a nomination please complete the application form and email it to explaining why you have nominated this Kellogg College student by Friday of 4th Week in Hilary Term.
A short reference is required from either the nominee’s Supervisor or Course Director and should be emailed directly to by Friday of 4th Week in Hilary Term. If you are a nominating Supervisor you cannot also supply the short reference.
Students will be notified if successful by Friday of 6th Week in Hilary Term and will be invited to attend a drinks reception to celebrate their success. Recipients of the award will be required to provide a short news item about their work, for the College website, and encouraged to participate in the College’s Colloquium which is an informal opportunity for Kellogg students to present their research to a non-expert audience.
