Buy In Reminder

Due to CMS system updates, the Buy In Deletion Report will be available on February 12th, and the Buy In file will be sent to CMS early on the morning of February 16th. This means the Buy In Deletion Report will need to be completed by close of business on February 15th. Any cases newly authorized between February 12th and 15th that qualify for immediate buy in, will need to have an email sent to the DXC Buy In team to be manually added to the CMS

Social Security Income Records

To ensure correct income budgeting is used for Social Security (SSI & SSA) income and automatic system processes such as interfaces and batches run successfully, staff should create Social Security Income (SSI & SSA) income records as follows:

  • Only one income record per individual should be created for each distinct Social Security Income type. I.e. An individual receives both SSI and SSA income or receives SSA income from two claim numbers. In either situation, two separate income records will be needed with the applicable claim number (CAN) documented in the Claim Number field.
  • Most of the time, Social Security (SSI & SSA) Income records are created with a Display Program type of ‘Family Medical’ on the Income Detail page. Except in the situations outlined below, it is not necessary to establish a new income record with an Elderly & Disabled Display Program type where a Family Medical record already exists.

The following situations are exceptions and require a separate Display Program type of Family Medical and Elderly and Disabled for each Social Security income record:

  1. When the individual is a program person on a MAGI program and the countable income is different between MAGI and non-MAGI programs.

Example: Household has MAGI program and E&D Medical program on the same case. Income change reported due to increased income. E&D processes change in the month following the month of report allowing timely notice. Because of continuous eligibility, MAGI case reacts to increased income at the next review.

  1. All cases with allocated income must have income records with a Display Program type of Elderly & Disabled.
  1. When the individual is a program person on a MAGI program and the income frequency is NOT monthly.

Example: Household consists of a parent who receives Working Healthy and a MAGI child. Because Working Healthy does not use MAGI budgeting, a separate income amount for the income record is needed with a Display Program type of Elderly & Disabled Program type is needed.

  1. Individuals who are eligible, or potentially eligible, under a Protected Medical Group (PMG) must have each Social Security income record entered with a Display Program type of Elderly & Disabled.
