MATH PROBLEM SET-UP GUIDE
- COPY THE PROBLEM
- Most errors come from simply working with the wrong values.
- When completing Word Problems, you may list just the important parts with values instead.
- Problems with Graphs must still be copied, but a quick accurate sketch is acceptable.
- WORK PROBLEM DOWN THE PAGE
- Do not work problems across the page. The “Math Part” of the brain works vertically.
- You must always show your work. No Work- No Credit!
- Use your colored pencils often. They are helpful when identifying each step in a problem.
- Scratch work for arithmetic calculations may be included beside the problem’s steps in a two column format.
- BOX FINAL ANSWERS
- Carefully include the entire answer in your box.
MATH PROBLEM CORRECTION GUIDELINES
HOMEWORK & CLASSWORK / QUIZZES & TESTS
- Put an “X” on the number of the missed problem.
- Do not erase any part of the missed problem.
- Correct on the Assignment (Beside the missed problem is best!).
- Using a highlighter, highlight the entire part of the missed problem on the Quiz/Test Paper and the Scantron/Answer Sheet (if applicable).
- On your own paper, rewrite and rework the missed problem.
MATH TASKS
- Read and follow the Task Descriptions and Rubrics very carefully before, during, and after the task.
- Note that if several days or even weeks are given to complete the task, then it must take that long to complete it. You must manage your time wisely, and take into account that problems might arise (printer issues, flash drive problems, computer crashes, sibling destruction, family challenges, running out of materials, etc.).
- Remember, Tasks are Summative assessments - just like Tests.
- Know that the Task is a reflection of you. Create a product that you are proud to call your own!
