Kapur Family Care

Final Report March 2015

Practice Objectives

To further expand and support our Patient Participation Group (PPG) which was formed in May 2011 and who continue to work tirelessly, supporting the practice and trying to engage patients

It is hoped that their participation will help us review and develop the Practice in line with “patients” needs and ensure that patient’s feel involved in the future development of the practice.

We believe that our group is an invaluable source of communication between patients and practice working proactively to improve services.

Process for Agreeing Survey Topics

Initially the group agreed they could not think of anything the practice could improve on so it was decided that last year’s survey should be used again as the comparison from last year’s results would be very useful. However with the introduction of the Friends and Family test it was agreed at a later date that patients may be fed up of answering so many surveys. We agreed to go with the outcomes and suggestions from Friends and family tests and also leave our patient survey on our website then patients could take part if and when they wished to.

The Survey

Friends and family test would be used for this purpose. Patients are asked would they recommend practice to family and friends and if they would like to comment why they answered that way.

A generic survey covering three areas: The Practice, The doctors/Nurses and The staff was available on practice website.

Results & Action Plan

Although the group felt there were no specific areas for improvement identified from results from survey and Friends and Family and they had no recommendations or suggestions for improvement, we discussed improvement plan that the surgery would be implementing from April 2015

Ø  To Improve patient access- more appointments would be made available 70 appointments per week per 1000 pts.

Ø  Pre bookable appointments extended to 6 weeks in advance

Ø  All under 5s to be assessed on the same day.

There were no noted areas for improvement, as the practice continues to strive to improve and maintain high standard. The group will continue to review Friends and Family responses on a monthly basis.

Conclusion

The Practice is very pleased by the interest shown by the patients who have joined the PPG, and are encouraged by the positive feedback received from them about the survey and the results.
