Randallstown High School

Varsity Cheerleading Application

Fall 2012

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Your child is interested in becoming a member of Randallstown High School’s Varsity Cheer Squad. If selected to the squad there are specific responsibilities and obligations, which your child must assume in order to qualify and remain part of the squad. Before your child may even attend tryouts, he or she must have a physical on file with the school.

After reading and discussing the attached cheerleading rules and regulations and the athlete’s code of conduct, please sign the forms and return them to Mrs. Holst on the first day of tryouts. Also enclosed in this packet are the requirements for making the Varsity squad, please look over these carefully, as tryouts will be rigorous and every person will be held to these standards. We do plan on having a JV squad this year. If you are interested in being on the JV team, tryouts will be held in August. We will be attending the Baltimore County Competition again this year and plan on attending the Franklin Invitational. Being a part of Varsity does not guarantee you a spot on the competition team. Your jumps, motions, dance, stunts, voice, and facials must all be at competition level to be chosen to compete.

Cheerleading will be considered a two-season sport, football and basketball. This information is for football season. A separate tryout will be held for basketball.

The school provides part of the uniform for the cheerleaders; it includes the shell top and the skirt. The items the cheerleader must purchase on his/her own are shoes, socks, spankies, crop tops, warm-ups, and bows. Warm-ups are required this year for numerous reasons; we need to look uniform while performing during games with cold or rainy weather, we want to look uniform when attending invitationals and competitions, and the pants are great for wearing under skirts on the days you wear the uniform to school. Approximate cost, if you need to purchase all items, will be $140-145. Information on ordering items will be provided if you make the squad.

I am delighted at the possibility of having your child join our Cheer squad. We made tremendous advances over the last three years and I look forward to an even better year. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me.

Thank you for your cooperation. Best of luck to everyone!

Sincerely,

Heather Holst
