Make-up Work and Late Work:

If a student is going to be absent from my class, he/she must email me to get any necessary work or information. If a student is going to be absent the day an assignment is due, he/she must submit that assignment on time regardless (if a hard copy was to be turned in, it will be emailed to me instead). Regarding make-up work for an excused absence, students will have one day per absence to complete the assignment(s); however, for an unexcused absence, I will not accept late work. For further details, please see page 18 in the student handbook.

Academic Integrity:

Students are expected to be academically honest at all times. No forms of dishonesty will be permitted. Cheating of any kind, including plagiarism and sharing homework, violates our school policy. Students who are guilty of academic dishonesty will receive no credit for the assignment, the incident will be documented on the student's record, and the parents will be notified. For further detail, please see page 26 of the Student Handbook.

iPad Policy:

Students will use their iPads in my classroom daily to access resources and turn in assignments. While there are times when students are permitted to take photos and create video/audio recordings, it is only when I expressly give my permission. These activities will be part of instruction. Taking photos and making video/audio recordings of oneself, classmates, or the teacher/substitute are strictly prohibited. If a student violates this policy, his or her device will be confiscated and turned in to the Discipline Office. Disciplinary action and consequences will follow.

Email:

Per archdiocesan policy, teachers can respond to student emails only between 6:30 AM and 9 PM. Furthermore, all student emails must be sent from the McGill-Toolen student email; if an email is sent from a personal email, it will be discarded. The content and format of the email must adhere to professional standards (i.e. greeting, body, closing, grammar, punctuation), otherwise it will have to be rewritten to reflect the writer’s true abilities.
