1. Parsons showed an abundance of approbation towards his children’s spy training, even when they turned him in.

2. If the Party had assuaged Winston’s torture, then they would not have broken him down enough to betray Julia.

3. Winston wrote “If there is hope it lies in the proles,” which means that if the proles were to form a coalition, then they could easily overthrow the Party.

17. The Two Minutes Hate was meant to simulate the anger of the Party members so they would be brainwashed and not use the hate towards one another or Big Brother.

18. Anyone who could possibly transcend mentally would be executed so they would not realise the cruelty of the world Party members live in.

19. Members of the Party do not just become suspicious by other’s behavior, they even take umbrage towards it if it is negative towards Big Brother.

20. One might act in an unctuous manner to avoid being caught by the Thought Police.
